Not in the festival itself as that was excellent and I shall get to it in a moment but in the lack of coverage it has received not only on this here mailist but on the big brother MA (Mostly Absent) too... Am I the only UK Rockfjorder? If not, am I the only one who braved the mud, rain and ebola for a weekend of fun and the occasional BF5 show? Seems so... pity. In all honesty I've gotta say that the boys weren't upto their usual standards; firstly an unfairly short show, no real banter with the audience and all Ben's trademark behaviours (piano stool throwing, piano standing etc) seemed, well, trademark. Granted the mud seemed to hold everyone down and we weren't the most reactive crowd (except me (he says modestly) who's shouts of "Disco Deaver Sledge" and constant bouncing/splashing probably annoyed most the crowd). But they were fun and I enjoyed them... As for the rest of the festival? Well if you ignore the typhoonesque rains, rivers and lakes of mud, people beaten to death in tents, 25,000 in hospital and my inablity to get laid then it was excellent. That's the mahvellous thing about Glastonbury - the Gods can hurl the heavens (and as anyone there last year will testify, they are doing) and we'll still keep smiling. We just don't need fucking Jarvis Cocker to keep telling us how brave, common, real and ultimately British we are. The arsehole. Anyway, I digress. It was fun, anyone else have an opinion or we you all tucked up in bed watching BBC2 coverage? Later alligators Dave P.S. Anything really, it's just a great excuse to take a break and write this post! JEN: I went and checked out your site a couple of nights ago - Nicely done! I putting together a mix tape to add to it this weekend, so I will e-mail you with the details next week. It's going to have songs from my favourite Aussie bands. Check it out guys! If one of the USofAers wants to get a copy on the basis that they will send it to anyone else who wants it, I will happily send it over. There will be a couple of songs on there from The Whitlams who are referred to by some as the Aussie Ben Folds Five (there you go - Bentent!) so I think you guys would probably like them. Anyway, I will get my ass into gear and do one for international music later this month. ERIC: Wow! You were actually able to fullfill all of my criteria? That has NEVER happened before! Hang on - I did not specify human did I - you are actually an alien life force aren't you! :-) (don't you love my interrogation technique!) To begin with, you must be the first straight (or only mildly bent) guy who can dance that I have ever heard of! You have only one drawback - you live half a globe away from me!!! :( Anyway, to determine if Eric really is my soul mate in hiding* could Sandi or Kristen answer the attractive and/or humour question?! :P On 30 Jun 1998 Erik wrote: <> Oh yeah - Can I relate to that! I have to say, it was a bit bizarre to see what you looked like. For some reason, I expected you would look completely different! Anyway, they brought back memories of my college days when we had photos like that taken - and I discovered the danger of recording events in 2D - things can look very different to what they were!!! But that is another tale...... SPENCER: Long time no hear from! Doncha love me anymoooorrrre....... etc (I can't remember the rest of the words). Anyway, I have heard from Anne and the whole sheet music thing is happening. Thank you very much for that. Lots of hugs and kisses from me and all of the other Aussies that are getting the sheet music from me! Don't that make you feel good guys! Ohhhhhhhh, warm fuzzies! Also, to the Aussie RFers on here - are any of you going to the Brisbane concert on 31st July? If you are and want to meet up, e-mail me privately at kwatkins%hbh@themis.com.au Later people, Kate. * ----WARNING---- Extreme sarcasm in use.
