So yeah, Spence... I found your diary (and btw, why does your diary have little plastic daisies all over it and a little tiny key attached by a yellow ribbon?) and MAN is Matthew going to be mad whe I tell him what you wrote! That'll serve you right for kicking me off your bean bag chair! Jess? I went outside to tell E that you belong on the Road Rules cast, but I think I'd had one too many Hurricanes, and then I was experiementing with the whole 2 liter Mountain Dew bong and then I realized I was the only double x chromosomed person in the house (as Courtney and Kathryn stopped off to check some swing bands in Austin). So then I got caught up in the whole sex on the pool table thing and forgot to ask E about Road Rules. But now I'm not exactly sure just what it was that happened on the pool table. The camera guys aren't telling either... and I can't even steal the videos from the stationary cameras and watch those, as someone covered it with a baseball hat. Matthew? Markus? Spence? Erik? Anyone want to tell me what happened before C and K get here? Oh, H E double hockey sticks. Who cares? Anyone want to go to the Preservation Society with me tonight? Question: I thought it was Hound of Chaos... is it Hand of Chaos? Either handle is pretty damn cool, so I guess it doesn't really matter, now does it? Well, to round things out... since we never ever ever get these types of posts on here, I thought I would paste these two in from today's Armchair. Enjoy! I did. The MA as a cognizant entitiy: >I won't be here for the summer, so you don't have to send me any Armchair >letters until I write you again. One other thing-- I don't know how to >add/say something in the Magical Armchair. How do I do that? Ahhhhhh! Now I get it! We all started liking BFF because of that there ballad: >...enough with the comments about" you're not a fan, if you started liking >bff b/c of brick"... we all already know that most of us started liking bff >b/c we liked brick, so we bought the cd. Good, we already knew that. Enough. Nuff said. Signing off from N'awlins... - -Anne P.S. Eric -- like Matthew, I loved the Jtown reference... you are a sicky, aren't you! *grin* ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Jun 1998 07:40:40 -0700 From: "Kamp, Marcus S" Subject: Underground Single Many of you have emailed me directly & some have posted asking about the UK CD Single for Underground. Well, after compiling a list of 16 patient souls who offered everything from "uh, stuff" to human sacrifice just for a copy of this most elusive beast, I schlepped into downtown Seattle--not an easy task what w/all the Real Worlders roaming about, not sure how to exist in the actual real world--only to find they were sold out of all but 1 copy & no longer use the distributor from whom the original shipment came. So, in short (as opposed to Shorterese--that most enigmatic of all code languages), you're SOL. Sorry, kids...thanks for playing! ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Jun 1998 07:44:24 -0700 From: "Kamp, Marcus S" Subject: Real World All I'm sayin' is...I ain't fillin' out no godamm application! I already live in the actual real world & will not even feign interest in the pretend real world...unless I get to wear a summer frock & share the back bedroom w/Spence. Deal? Or should I say "dilly?" to be hip enough to make the cast?! Dat's duh puhunky puhat puhuresh dope bomb, yo! Real World is for the childrens! ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Jun 1998 10:38:03 -0500 From: "Thomas Kluis" Subject: apocalypsi? Hey everyone! I just had to respond after reading about Apocalypse Now, my God what a beautiful movie. The whole thing, I could just watch it for the cinematography. Anyway, hello to everyone, this is my second post (I think). I'm 19 and approaching my Junior year at the U of MN (twin cities) (I have red hair, too). I am lucky enough to go to BBVD on the 30th here in Mlps. (I'm even going in costume, too bad my girlfriend doesn't really want to learn to swing, I'm an instructor on the side {not really moonlighting cuz I don't make any money) Some of my other favorites (besides Apocalypse Now, BBVD, and swing dancing and BFF of course) include Grant Lee Buffalo, Dropkick Murphies, Fatboy Slim, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gilespie, REM, Radiohead, Ani DiFranco, Bob Dylan (should be in front of list), X-Men comics (back when Chris Claremont was writing, Jim Lee too), X-Files (the movie kicked ass, I was disappointed not seeing Krycek) and making fun of that Jesse guy on MTV {who the hell voted for him!?!}. Movies I like include Heat, Star Wars Trilogy, Godfather(s), Good Fellas (OK any scorsese movie), Swingers, Braveheart, Casino, Platoon, Austin Powers, The Abyss, Usual Suspects, Slingblade, Good Will Hunting, LA Confidential. Anyway, ICQ #s are good ideas, mine is 5749576. Feel free to send me a message. I'd better go shower, I began a job today where I run a grinder on door frames (thank God it's only 3 weeks). Bentent: I think Eddie Walker is such an Epic song, esp. the part "remember the all those trees behind the garden? They're gone. They all got cut down when she died." I can just imagine a really good novel, (most notably the Dragonlance Chronicles) having a main character die and in response, the rest of the party does some huge and sweeping deed in his/her memory. I think it has something to do with trees symbolizing age & wisdom, and when Aunt Louise dies they go as well. Maybe I'm reading(listening?) a little deep... gotta go, I'm dirty. Tom PS. Go see The Perfect Murder in theaters if you get the chance. Good flick ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Jun 1998 09:31:21 -0700 From: "Kamp, Marcus S" Subject: CDs Because we've not followed this thread in a while--& 'cause I want to, dammit!--the CDs I currently have w/me @ work are: Los Amigos Invisibles--The New Sound Of the Venezuelan Gozadera (you MUST own this!!!); Tori Amos--From the Choirgirl Hotel; Erykah Badu--Baduizm, Live; Bliss (Various Artists); The Cure--Mixed Up; DM--Violator; Neil Finn--Try Whistling This; BFF--NBP; DMB--Before These Crowded Streets; Sarah McLachlan--The Freedom Sessions; MMW--Friday Afternoon In the Universe; Polytown; Portishead--Dummy, Portishead; Sinforosa--Hypnopotion (the in-demand CD single!); The Smiths--The Queen Is Dead; Soul Coughing--Irresistible Bliss. Anne, that freaky book was called "The Universal Baseball Association, Inc." and it was written by Robert Coover. I spent much of my high school days looking for a copy, as it was out of print, and it's freakiness was worth the wait. Remember the death of Damon Rutherford? :) Matthew, speaking of baseball, welcome aboard. Take care, all, Jay ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Jun 1998 12:38:22 -0400 (EDT) From: Ginger Nance Subject: jumping on the bandwagon... but not as stylishly as Anne! Ginger's RFRR Application: Name: Ginger Lynne Nance (not to be confused with the porn star Ginger Lynn) Occupation: pick one, I do them all--student, tech support consultant, administrative assistant, hotel front desk clerk Place of employment: UNC ATN Help Desk, Mecklenburg Ministries, Hampton Inn/Suites-Southpark; Charlotte and Chapel Hill, NC Hobbies/interests: movies, music, spending money I don't have, testing my limits for sleep-deprivation, road trips, UNC basketball, keeping Scott out of my bed ( :P ), spending way too much time chatting with other Fjordians, writing, reading...ummm...that's enough, I think. Three interesting things about your childhood: 1) I was scared of ET. We're talking paralyzing fear. My mom thought she'd make things better by buying me an ET doll. Too bad she put it in the closet, making my fear a reality. I think I survived, though. 2) My first concert was Bruce Springsteen, Born in the USA Tour. That made me the coolest kid in my first grade class. 3) I always would (and still do) put my foot in my mouth (not literally, though...ew). My mom was terrified b/c she never knew what I was going to say. Favorite BFF song: Emaline or Evaporated. Or maybe Philosophy. It's so hard to pick! <-- I have to borrow Scott's answer for that. Favorite BFF moment: Atlanta. You know if you were there. You'll never understand if you weren't. <--Ditto on borrowing his answer. Although, Ben dedicating Emaline to me in Austin is right up there. How has BFF affected your life: Oh boy...um, I finally found music that vocalizes all of those smart-ass comments I'm always thinking to myself, and that says the serious stuff better than I cold ever hope to. Their songs help define those moments in life you know you'll never forget, whether you want to or not. And I'vemet lots of cool people b/c of them, too! Why should you be picked for RRBFF: I shouldn't have to answer that question, my qualifications should be obvious! Besides, I fit several previously used RW/RR stereotypes, but in me you get them all in one person! And dammit, I want to drive a Winnebago! ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Jun 1998 15:20:16 -0600 From: "Erik C.
