I think there's more nice "ppl" than assholes in the trading world. I have just been really frustrated and sad about trading lately and he caught me at a REALLY bad time (i hated making people wait so long for their shows, and i also hated having to spend so much $$) Anne: Field of Dreams always makes me cry. Each of the 13 times i've seen it. I love baseball movies, they ALWAYS make me think about my dad and me and stuff (he's not dead. not even divorced from mom.) When i was in 10th grade i wrote a story about baseball and how it means so much to me cuz it's the only thing i have in common with my dad. i wrote some stuff like "in our family there's no 'i love you' but when dad says 'you looked good out on the field tonight' that's enough for me" I think that kinda pissed him off that i would share that with the class. hehe Whomever: okay i had a ben dream a while ago, and i still remember it, cuz it was one of those things where i say "i gotta remember this!" So i am watching a movie (in my dream) with my bro and it's late at night. Now, i don't ever watch scary movies (cuz i'm a chicken) but for some reason we were watching a scary movie on USA and i said to my bro "Hey, this is the movie Ben was in before he joined the band." And it was. Ben was in the movie, he was the main character. He was a serial killer, who only killed little kids. not cuz he hated kids but he hated parents (cuz his parents did something really horrible i think) and he killed the kids to wreck the parents' lives (kind of like "they're better off dead")...So the WEIRD thing about his killing were (even wierder than only kids) was that when he killed them, it'd be at night when they were sleeping. somehow, without the parents noticing, he'd cut off the kid's head and attach a spring to the neck and kind of pop the head back on, so when the parents went to wake up the kid in the morning, POP!! To tell the truth, it wasn't a scary dream cuz not only did i know it was a dream (i tend to dream in the morning, during that hour when my clock radio is playing but the alarm hasn't gone off) but in the dream the scary part wa sonly a movie. But i had to wake up cuz it was tooooo weird. Analyze? Anne (again, so popular!): I love bnl!!! i have sorta-kinda heard the new song (see: my clock radio) cuz i don't ever listen to the radio 'cept when it's on while i'm sleeping, and during that time it always seems like they're playing Matchbox Blind or something. So THANKS for posting those lyrics!! New album July 7!!! :) :) Joplin-ers: You all make me SO jealous that you know all that stuff about him! *pout* i hate being so un-cultured. And it only helped reaffirm my long standing adoration for Robert Sean Leonard. Even if he was kind of an ass in it. And while I was out, I picked up Bernard Butler's solo CD, and I dig it a LOT. I highly reccommend it. I also got the first Morcheeba CD, which i also like. Then today I went and saw the X-Files movie. Damn that Tea Leoni. Davey is a good lookin' man, and she can't act for shit. But anyhoo, It was a pretty good flick. It was pretty engrosssing. i was squirmy and edge-of-my-seat-y for a large chunk of it. So, i run it off the road into a truckstop and get out feeling really guilty. But the guys just set up like they are gonna play. and they do. a cast of thousands suddenly are inhabiting the truckstop and the guys play this 2 hour set. On the side of the road. The piano is on the back of my ute and Darren is having to play in the back of the truck cos the guys couldn't be fucked getting the drums out. Then ben uproots this 70ft gum tree and throws it into the piano. so then the cops pull up and start to bust ben for ripping up a national park and so the guys pissbolt and leave all the gear there. all the rest of the people are being shot but we get all the way to melbourne on foot. We all go and eat pancakes and see la confidential. Then i walk out in the street and get run over. The end. Does this show that i am mammothy strange or am i just bored? help. Ok now movies that rock. Hmmmmmmmm....ok here we go! The world's all time greatest movies are the Star Wars trilogy. Anything with Gene Kelly dancing is good. Happy Gilmore just is sooo funny. Hijack a plane and you can be down here in 24 hours. Plus i'll get to meet all you freaking wierd people. Sounds like fun to me (i am demented). RW: have you got a token foreigner yet? i'm sure that you could wind one into the convoluted plot. How about the small australian nerdy boy that all the cast take a shine to because of his accent and his general genially manner. plus he can play cricket and swear like a bullock drover. Oh, wait up. Do you guys have bullock drovers over there and if so do they swear? Damn, it seems like Australia really is another country. Anyhow, ill stop being so locaqious now and shut up. it was/is/will be fun. I most likely will be driven off for this drivel but i needed to vent. I hate maths. Please dont be too harsh. Hello all my friends... I had a little thought... Now we all adore Ben Folds Five, right? So we must have similar tastes in music, or find some aspect of BFF style appealing, which would lead us to find other bands appealing as well, right? A while ago, I read on the armchair (this was like a year ago, back in the day, as it were) about how they loved Jellyfish. Never hearing a single Jellyfish song, I said to myself "if a fan of bff is a fan of Jellyfish, I ought to check them ought"" and I did. I bought Spilt Milk and fell in love with Jellyfish. Now I have both albums, look at Jason's solo work... etc... Then, I discovered Semisonic a while back, have both of their albums, and you people on here are talking about how you love Semisonic. So I say to myself I say "self, I ought to find out what bands other BFF fans love and check out their music." So, who else do you adore? For me, that would be Radiohead, Jellyfish, The Smiths, Morrissey, Dave Matthews Band, Queen, Semisonic, Tori Amos, Five For Fighting, They Might Be Giants, Pavement, Ben Lee, Self, and REM. There are more, but these are some of my faves. I'm also big into swing and ska (all ska from Island Ska, to swing ska, punk ska, pop ska... etc) Bentent--I discussed the meaning of the line in "Missing the War" that goes "the shaking voice that tells him go still thinks he might he knows he won't" with Robert one day. I told him the 1st bunch of times I heard it, I understood it as the shaking voice was himself, he kept telling himself one day he would leave, but deep down he knew he wouldnt. But then, later, I thoguht perhaps the shaking voice was her, telling him to go, but he knew he never would. I discussed this song with Robert, and He said I was on track with the 1st interpretation. Stacy, your post is the perfect lead in to what I'm about ready to suggest. Over on IRC tonight we were discussing on trading mixed tapes with each other. I think this would be a wonderful idea. Usually when I'm getting to know people we make a tape for each other, to share our music with people, and to waste 90 minutes on a boring Sunday afternoon. So I was wondering if all you rockford people would like to trade mixed tapes with each other? I don't know how we would get this organized, but I think it would be a simply wonderful idea. Plus mixed tapes are wonderful to listen to when going on road trips, for people who aren't far enough into the future to have a CD player in their car. So what do you all think? Bentent: They played a clip of Uncle Walter on VH-1's special on Godzilla. I found it interesting that they played something besides Brick.
