It's Mary. I felt like I should come out of my lurking to comment on my first live BFF experience-- Jamboree. AAAAAA yay! It was great. From what you guys have been saying about their live performances being kind of tired, I think the boys were happy that this set was going to be shorter than usual. They played all the songs I wanted to hear and did the big rock finish and everything. Songs (not in order and I think I'm missing one): Dr. Pyser, BOWCCL, Fair, Selfless, Philosophy, Steven's, Brick, STFD... Robert was bouncing around all the time, Ben was wearing a purple and white checkered shirt that made me laugh every time I looked at it. They looked like they were having fun. I think the arc of the stool to the piano was scientifically calculated : ) ... The other bands were good too, I especially loooved Barenaked Ladies, they really played to the crowd ("hey, everyone on the lawn!.... stand up every 15 or 20 minutes and--for your own sake--pick the underwear out of your asses!") Foo Fighters and Soul Asylum were better than I thought they would be. But nursing a sunburn and a headache, I am home--out of the land of Foldness.... I hope I can go back soon! Thank you for reading my perky excitement! I'll be smiling for days. I can't *believe* I had a shitty time at a BFF show(???) I just got home from "seeing" the boys at Edgefest in Somerset, WI. Let me just say that Emily and Sandi's crew, you guys are so lucky you weren't down in the pit. We got injured, crushed and psychologically downtrodden! I couldn't even see the guys for more than about 5 minutes of the 40+ minute set. we eventually just gave up trying to watch the show and tried to leave, but not before a crowd surfer got dropped on us, fucking up my neck and back and sending me and my friend Jess to the muddy muddy ground. I tried unleashing the asskickin' fury, but it was no good. The only positive thing I got out of it was a farewell tour shirt and, well I guess a free workout. or something. . .yeah. . .Scott saw us exiting, our faces streaked with mud, our eyes glazed and our clothes grimy, looking like extras from "Dante's Peak". . .(sorry that's the only movie I could think of right off the top of my head.) I'll leave it to him or the gals to review the show -- I'm too brimming with negativity to say anything cool. :P OK -- my griping is over! BFF is for the children. . . and the big smelly drunks who beat them up, apparently. c'est la vie, unfortunately. Well, next time I'll see 'em at a club! - -Hannah - ------------------------------------------ Hannah Kuhlmann - kuhl0025@tc.umn.edu **FLASHY BEN FOLDS FIVE WEBSITE** AT http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/Cafe/1094/ - ------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ End of The Rockford Files V1 #134 *********************************
