ADMIN: Thanks, and upcoming smoe.org downtime ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Fri, 22 May 1998 03:33:51 EDT From: F2G 2 Subject: The Rockford Files V1 so anyway....... another rambling post by me. blame it on the chlor-trimeton and hayfever. i am. i am not certain that kansas exists. it could just be a state of mind. i'll let you all know what i decide. a 31? (on three holes?) smile. i AM impressed, oh fl. personally, i haven't been golfing too much.....baseball is all the craze. got 2 doubles....uh, and 2 strikeouts.....in our practice baseball game sunday. and saw the double-aa akron aeros blow an eleventh inning save a coupla nights back. did golf a straight 70 on this moderately large course by the homestead last weekend. lots of par 4's and 5's baby......got 5 birdies. and putted a lot........... anne: i am thinking....... it comes down to several issues. the bad mojo bf5 roadtrip i had to philly the week after the conBENtion, where i missed seeing sandi and any other rf- ers and even more importantly, my main hookup in the city of liberty. plus the flat tire and the overnight drive of doom..... money. miles on the vw......it's my baby. and finally...... i don't believe i comport myself as a 'fickle' music listener. after all, i have been a avid (some might say rabid) bf5 fan since my introduction to them at ziggy's in winston-salem. (thank you paul and troy, where ever you may be......) i am close to the opinion that a nice, easy show 30 minutes away might be just fine. i do admit that my feelings for/towards the boys have changed since the conBENtion. i feel less strongly about them by far..... for multiple reasons which i may actually have discussed with some of you. often i lurk, merely due to the fact that, because of my lackluster or mixed feelings about the MAIN TOPIC of the list, i feel as an expatriate might. so we'll see. and we'll talk.... hannah: would you be kind enough to email me a listing of the songs you dug on tape 1? you see, i have encountered a creative block problem with the 2nd flava... i don't think i'd want to hear it repeatedly, so....i don't know if you would. it has some good stuff, ie: london suede, phish, sean lennon, scott weiland, charlie parker, portishead, mc hammer (sorry. couldn't resist.), the orb, old, folky beck followed by leadbelly(!), etc etc etc. but it just hasn't clicked.........you know what i mean? and i'd like to tailor it to fit. almost done. then you can move on to the critical review of gojira (godzilla, you plebes). my comment on the soundtrack: look at the bands. mediocrity abounds. it's a self-evident fact that accompanies the matchbox 20-fication of 'alternative' music. why are you surprised? everyone, say a little 'hooray!' for megan. she landed a computer graphics/design job that pays minimally well and will facilitate her trip, perhaps sooner than we expected, to pittsburgh's art institute. i realize it's far sooner than you all expected, and if you're traumatized by this, feel free to drop me a line. we'll weep, collectively. smile. anyhow, i'm proud and happy and definitely not looking forward to the anticipated roadtrips to pittsburgh every other weekend while i'm working and returning to school. i think she's worth it, though. goodnight. matthew ps. markus. the nanny is still on the air? ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 22 May 1998 03:40:30 EDT From: F2G 2 Subject: ms. mcbeal postscript from what little i've seen, the show seems to have clever quips occassionally. but it does strike me as unusually similar to the cartoon strip 'cathy.' copyright infringement......you decide. m. and i like 'BuFFing' best, even though it doesn't seem to fit. exactly. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 22 May 1998 09:10:39 -0400 From: Anne Lyons Subject: Juvenile Delinquents Unite! Hi all! Jessica: I like BeFeF, but it disturbs me that you are getting 4 year olds drunk and then forcing them to say "Beth". I mean, if they wanna drink -- who am I to stand in their way? But waiting until they are looped and then forcing them to say words that are difficult for them to say sober? Well, hell. That's even low for me! *grin* ADIDAS: Wow. Am I old or what? Adidas clothes used to be big (actually, they are getting big again, along with the short, tight gym shorts with white piping around the bottom and sides... you know the ones I mean). So anytime you wore a shirt that said Adidas... some joker would say... "Heh heh heh... All Day I Dream About Sex... Anne is always thinking about sex!" "No I'm not!" "Yes you are! "No I'm NOT!" "Yes you are... you're a loooooooser!" [Whoops... sorry! Just revisting my past for a bit.] So is that titillating to me now? No, indeed. But to a ten year old... that was pretty damn racy. Along with the ever-popular guy asking a girl: "How many periods do you have in a day?" "Seven." *giggle* *snort* *giggle* "Anne has seven periods a day!" "Yeah, well, what about it... so do you, so does everyone!" "Anne is a loser, Anne is a loser!" "I am not!" "Yes you are!" "No I am NOT, you jerk!" "You're so stupid. You're a wicked loser!" [Whoops! Once again, I had to be brought back out of my childhood memories... someone here in the office threw a glass of water at me when I started screaming "You stupid bastard! Who's a loser now, punk!" at the top of my lungs. Aaaaahhhhhhhhh... *sigh* Small town life!] Erik: Happy Birthweekend! Have a cold one for me! Later! - -Anne "It's only me who wants to wrap around your dreams and... I annoy people enough as it is! Don't forget, young Eric, it was I who got literally ounces of praise heaped on you & Miss Lyons for your witticisms from the Armchairianites! & THIS is the thanks I get! Admit it, Anne, you use "feckin'" to get closer to the beauty that is Markus! So is the TV show thing a new thread? My weekly dose: Sunday-Simpsons, King of the Hill, X-Files; Thursday-ER; Friday-Cartoon Planet. That's it. Now that Seinfeld is gone, my TV watching has suffered a 16% decline. Oh, I do watch reruns of the Simpsons & the Daily Show as I eats me spinach after a hard day's blight, but now that Craiggers isn't gonna be on Yo Daily, I guess I'll cut that out, too. JEFF BUCKLEY's "GRACE" IS ONE OF THE GREATEST CDs OF ALL TIME.. Buy it no matter the cost! "Last Goodbye", "Lilac Wine", "So Real", his cover of "Hallelujah", and "Lover, You Should've Come Over" would make the best album side-were there still such a thing-since the 2nd side of Abbey Road. BUY IT NOW! Speaking of which, I still haven't heard anyone offer any thorough advice on whether or not the Godzilla OMPS is worth buying. If you own it, you have a responsibility to the rest of us to let us know whether you feel duped or not. C'mon, slackers!!! ADIDAS was thought in 6th grade (& still, apparently, for the wee bairns in Korn-oh, those crazy kids & their skateboards, will they never stop?!) to stand for "All Day I Dream About Sex". Now, however, for those of us in the working class, it's come to mean "All Day I Dream About Sleep" or "All Day I Diddle And Surf", which makes very little sense to me now that I've made it up, or "All Dogs In Detroit Are Sneezing", which makes no sense @ all, actually, or "Anne Digs Inane Dumb Ass Shows"-Hey, I kinda like that one!!! Because it soooo looks like it's gonna rain this weekend, and I'm seeing BFF (say: befef) OUTDOORS! on sunday. goddamit. not that I wouldnt' stand there pulling my shirt out like Helen Hunt, soaked and freezing, for many hours just to hear the guys play, but I doubt that they and their equiptment would do the same thing for me. . .(did that make sense?) Scott, as soon as I get my tape of last night's radio show, I'll fillya in on any info it provided about the show. I'v been told that there was a BFF segment. . . alright, time to be introduced to psychology in my -- you guessed it -- Intro to Psychology class! :P - ------------------------------------------ Hannah Kuhlmann - kuhl0025@tc.umn.edu **FLASHY BEN FOLDS FIVE WEBSITE** AT http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/Cafe/1094/ - ------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 22 May 1998 10:07:16 -0700 (PDT) From: ralph kyatsu Subject: yummy! You've raised over $3500 at this point, and I really appreciate your support!!! Earlier this week I ordered the new hardware for smoe.org, which cost $4600 (drop me a note if you're interested in the technical specs on the new gear). It arrived today, and I'm taking a few days off work to get it set up and in production. At some point between Saturday and Tuesday, smoe.org will be shut down to install the new hardware. The downtime will probably be 4-6 hours. During the time we're off-line, mail will be queued up at my ISP so no mail will be lost. I'll send out another announcement once the new gear is online. Thanks again for your help! - -Jeff P.S. If you've been meaning to send in a check, Mike Connell is still accepting donations. Contact him at ducksoup@spectra.net for more info. ------------------------------ End of The Rockford Files V1 #132 *********************************
