I'll vouch for Lawrence. It is a cool town. However, festivals in Lawrence are a nightmare. All the ones I ever went to were overly frat populated or brimming with Oak Park Mall brats that all ended with water jugs being thrown at my head, or teeth-marks in my shoulder. So, it sounds like this last one didn't break from the mold. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 20 May 1998 15:11:50 -0700 From: "Kamp, Marcus S" Subject: They Play So Nice SO glad to hear others bash on KS!!! No offense, Carrie-like I said, the Eastern 3rd of the state is alright-but your state is an apocalyptic nightmare to whence Puff the Magic Daddy should be forever banished. Anne: I've said it before, I'll say it again...Put down the Remote & slowly walk away from the TV before it's too late! Buffy?! What other total shyte do you watch?! Next you'll tell us all about the Nanny finale-DON'T YOU EVEN FECKIN' THINK ABOUT IT!!! So, honestly, folks...is the addition of a badly produced version of "Air" to my collection worth shelling out $18 for a crappy Godzilla soundtrack? For those of you who already have, please let the rest of us know if it's worth the pain! So, Sandi, are you home for a while now?! Or were you just checkin' in w/us again between shows?! We miss ya, Little Miss Plastic Pants! Markus ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 20 May 1998 22:43:36 EDT From: FieryLox Subject: Song For The DumpED! Did anyone else wonder why John Flansburg's name was not on the video? Or why Matt Pinfield introduced the video as having "stop motion animation" and "scale models of Ben Folds Five", yet neither one of these appears in the actual video? I'm thinking that maybe they trashed the first video for some reason, and the one that was shown last night was a last-minute replacement. I mean, the verse in Japanese? Cute...and distracting. See what I mean? But I DID quite enjoy the video nevertheless, especially the Japanese verse and when Ben sang "Kano o kaese, kano o kaese, YOU BITCH!" I dug it. Toodles! Sara "I heard there was a secret chord/That David played, and it pleased the Lord/But you don't really care for music, do ya?"--Hallelujah--Leonard Cohen (but I think Jeff Buckley made it a real religious experience) ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 20 May 1998 23:45:10 -0400 (EDT) From: "Kelly A Vallender" Subject: a brief break Am I really posting? I can't believe it. I really don't know whats going on right now, it seems as though I should be at a show or driving to one, but here I am at home for a night and I don't know what to do with myself, until Saturday that is. I will have to back up Sandi in that even though we were sleep deprived and delerious from Texas KS was definitely not up to par. Yet, they can't be at their best every night right? Besides Darren, Robert also said something that hinted at the point that it wasn't their best. C'mon how could it be when people don't even know enough not to crowd surf to selfless? Maybe they were distracted by the amount of illegal teenage cleavage *headlights* bouncing around in the crowd, all instigated by the radio "we think were the shit because we have a microphone and some fire hose" assholes. HMMMMM.... Besides that it wasn't enjoyable to be wet with everyone elses day old sweat. Then there was a reality check when this guy who I thought was somewhat attractive was pinned to me by the crowd told me that he was sixteen and then I caught him looking down my tank top all night. SIXTEEN, I think that Sandi and I were the oldest people within a 50 person radius. Anyways... Last night (f)rocked! (he he) They were really into it and Robert went off and sang for a while, it was some oldie (what song was that?) and the crowd was really cool. I'm really going to miss Superdrag, I started to become quite a fan after the 3rd show, besides that they are really nice guys. Even their roadie stage guy was cool who fed us cigarettes and beer that he owed us. well thats enough for me. The past week has been all about no sleep, waffle houses, *sandwiches*, cat women, roadkill, rollingrock, and rest areas.... I'm going to go sleep. By the way I really DO like Air, it took me a couple of times though. Calvin ------------------------------ End of The Rockford Files V1 #130 *********************************
