Asking me to list my ten favorite albums is like asking Hemingway what's his favorite word. There're just too many. Anyway, my prom story. Well, I wanted to bring my girlfriend up to my prom. (I went to a college prep school about 45 minutes outside of Boston for high school. {St. Mark's, if oyu know it, Anne}) That was a no-go, so with about five weeks until prom, I'm stuck without a date. I'm sitting around in the lounge, chilling, and I end up asking one of my freshie friends. She accepted, and we showed up in style. I had a nice rented tux, with an M.C. Escher design for a cumberbun and tie (bonus style points, anyone?) We go, the prom kinda sucks, but we have fun because we're two of the few people who know how to swing dance. (Preppy school prom, what else do you expect but swing?) So we finish up, and we decide to head into Cambridge for the only way to end a prom (at least if you're going with just a friend), a midnight showing of Rocky with one of my friends and his date, also just a friend-thing. Now, normally, Rocky's a great experience to shout, scream and be obnoxious at. Well, the main impediment was that my friend brought along his MOM! We had to be on our best behavior all through Rocky. Fortunately, we went home after that and hung out for a while. Not all that interesting, but I just thought I'd share. Laters all! (FL! I'M THERE WITH YOU BABY!) senior prom theme: "friends in low places," garth brooks. so we're at prom with my friends. matt is tripping (and man, did he like the electric slide that night.), we're all a little stoned or drunk or something...... the main proponent of me being gay approaches. "so matt, are you going to introduce me to your date?" his eyeballs are all a-goggle. "brad, heather, heather, brad." he proceeds to begin hitting on her before me........ and her lip began to curl. like it did when she smelled a skunk. or ate somthing she disliked............or was just plain disgusted. "who are you again?" the vacuous girl asked, lips still curling. he shrunk, before our eyes. the time is growing nigh for a new rockfjordian to be born into the fold. expectations are beginning to blossom. matthew "i write a letter to a friend of mine tell him how much i used to love to watch him smile see i haven't seen him smile in a little while but i know you're laughing from the inside out........." ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 08 May 1998 17:04:58 -0400 From: Shara_Hoffman@hths.mcvsd.k12.nj.us (Shara Hoffman) Subject: Mother's Day On this mother's day, spend some time with your mother ....and ben's mother. Hello, Filers.. Guess what? On Sunday on 12 Angry Viewers on MTV *for that day named "Twelve Angry Mothers"* BEN'S MOM is going to be on there! Isn't that crazy??? I wonder if they resemble each other... That's kinda cool! If you wanna watch it, its on at about 11 CDT here in Illinois.. I'm not sure when anywhere else... Let's see.. what else to say.. I became the victim of a mosquito today... Its not fun... I had a dream about Ben... *S* :) I met him at one of his concerts and he came to my house.. Then we talked for awhile and it seemed like he was avoiding me.. How could this be???!!!! MY DREAM LOVER AVOIDING ME???!!!! THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG WITH THIS!! :) *L* Gotta go.. They're a good thing! Good idea Anne, threads give everyone something to write about, well except me. I never went to a prom. But hey I am not bitter, truly! I went to a few winterfests, and they are just small time proms anyway. I too had a bad dinning experience, Meg.. Except my date was too into the food to notice me. I mean he ate all his food, all my food, my friends food... Hey put away one and a half steaks! Yes he was a football player. So it wasn't the prom, and since it sucked I didn't want to spend the $50 bucks do it it all over again in the spring! Now for top ten albums of all time, for me that would be within the last 20 years but here it goes: 10) Sloan - Smeared 9) Bjork - Debut 8) Shonen Knife - Let's Knife 7) Soul Coughing - Irrasistable Bliss 6) Paul Simon - Graceland 5) BFF - WEAEA 4) Barenaked Ladies - Gordon 3) Sloan - Twice Removed 2) BFF - s/t 1) Jeff Buckley - Grace For any other Jeff Buckley fans out there, his mom put together a 2 CD set of stuff he recorded before his death and rare tracks, it will be out May 26th! Now if I wanted to get caught doing something with a BFF member, to keep it PG-13 I think it would be hilarious to get drunk with Darren, you know get all disorderly, and walk the streets singing songs from Willy Wonka. BUT I have to say that as an MSU student who didn't participate in the most recent riot, beer is still good! Thanx so much...I'm still *IN* highschool, and now the whole prom thing is completely ruined....*sigh* So as for that thread...nothing to add. Hehe....How could you not notice little paper balls down your dress? Come on! I never thanked our resident dream specialist for helping me out...Thanx! I have high moral standards? Just as I always suspected. The Tori Amos book finally came, and I can play a whole bunch of her songs now. I didn't realize how reallyreally talented she was until I could see her music. Why don't the 5 put a book out? Don't they think it would sell? Just one of the many things in life that annoy me. Here's another one: What is up with Canadian stereotypes? Do we really say "ABOOT"?!? Do we really look alike? Do we really live in igloos? Our free trial for the comedy network just ended...No more Kids in the Hall....No more sweet...sweet Dave Foley....I guess I'll have to start drooling over NewsRadio... My friend called me up last night asking what the most memorable thing I could think of to have autographed was. Her brother works at a radio station, and apparently Matchbox 20 is going to be there when we're on a trip to Ohio (YES! Rock and Roll Hall of FAME!!!). Why does she like Matchbox 20? I don't understand this strange attraction. Like any good friend, I told her the only reasonable thing she could have her brother get autographed would be a life-size, full-color cardboard cutout of Bill Cosby. That brings me to my thread...If you could have anything autographed by the 5, what would it be? I think for me it would be a Billy Joel CD....I wanna see Ben get mad..... Russell Crowe has a new movie coming out! tout est bien qui finit bien, mais je ne sais pas pourquois, Jessica O wait, one more thing...Ginger Nance, who are the "Heels?" It's been keeping me awake for nights! : ) ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ End of The Rockford Files V1 #117 *********************************
