Hey all! Carrie: YAY! I am so excited for you! And once again, I am starting to believe that you and I are actually sharing the same life -- you are just going through it 10 years later! I, too, ended up starting a relationship just before a break at college. It was very weird, but ended up being a very long lasting relationship. But the guy studies? Sheesh... what does he think he's really supposed to get out of college?!??! Ginger: Well... you narrowly escaped an emergency on the way to get a bus, and then went to breakfast with a friend where you assisted one of the Five with his PB&J. Hmmmmm... well, the avoidance of the emergency is probably your feeling of relief after one final finished. Or it has something to do with going to the bus stop (wanting to leave, but being stopped by an emergency). The b-fast scene is interesting (and why are all the Rockfjordians having dreams where they have to help the Boys? Are they really that incompetent?). It was a very motherly thing -- to tell Rob to calm down so you could clean him up. Then he got you a present... the waffles. Waffling of course is feeling ambiguous about something. Perhaps the mothering image and the gift signifying ambiguity have something to do withthe upcoming Mother's Day? Perhaps you are searching for the perfect gift? Or perhaps you don't want to get her a gift? Or you miss her a lot and are upset that you can't get home in time (missing the bus)? Or, it is that you did not eat enough before you went to bed? I mean, *PB&J*, *waffles,* the emergency vehicle was doing *donuts*... I think you need to snack a little before bed, Ginger! Random: I saw Boogie Nights & The Ice Storm on the same night last week. Isntead of an overload of Heather Graham... I got an overload of 70's fashions! Probably the worst: Dirk Diggler's tight denim patchwork bell bottoms in the opening of his "007" series & the daughter's outfits in the Ice Storm. Item of clothing that brought me back the most: the knit poncho on aforementioned daughter -- right on back to kindergarten! Cheerio! - -Anne Amber: "Whats going on down there girl?" Hey, Kristin, I'm going...I live here, so how could I not? I can't quite arrange to meet you before the show because I'm going with my friend Nate who's thisclose to scoring us backstage passes. And that makes Nate my new best friend. Gotta chill with him. But...I'll try to recognize you. Maybe I'll wear my WAEA shirt. though I'm just not sure yet. In case you don't know, the best place to stand is way up front, way on the left (stage right). That way you can see Ben's hands, which is half the show in themselves. It's amazing. I'll be lurking around there. I can't wait! And I can't believe it's this Friday! it's just not sinking in. Too much work fries your capacity to perceive... No dinero, so no Grand Rapids show. Ah well, I'll just have to go back to stalking them independently in my secret quest to have Darren Jesse's children. ;) Anyway, laters! ( if you like her, or really if you like Garbage too. . .) It is a groovy cool treat. Carrie, if you're sick of watching Heather Graham get some, you should watch the exact opposite -- Lost in Space! oh wait, I wouldn't wish that pain on you, never mind. I saw this really really REALLY bad indie one time where she and her boyfriend uh. . .well, she had pre-blondejob hair and makeup ala boogie nights, and the drove around in this car while they. . . OK, if you've seen it, you're cringing at the memory, and if you haven't, well you're on of the lucky ones. no bentent, sue me. oh, but amanda, THANKS for the package!!! if I didn't already e-mail you. :) wow. - -Hannah - ------------------------------------------ Hannah Kuhlmann - kuhl0025@tc.umn.edu **FLASHY BEN FOLDS FIVE WEBSITE** AT http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/Cafe/1094/ - ------------------------------------------ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 5 May 1998 13:12:01 -0400 From: spencerc@usit.net (Spencer Corden) Subject: Recycle/Trash sound Attention anyone who cares! I have isolated the smashing trash sound at the end of Julianne. It works just great if you have the capability to assign sounds to a task such as.....oh, I don't know.......emptying the *recyle bin/trash* depending on whether you use IBM or Mac. I sampled it at 44.1 mHz 8 bit stereo, so the quality is great. File size is 315K. So anyway, if you want the file, just email me privately and specify what format you want the file in. It sure makes deleting files a lot more fun! (I would have said funner, but the effect just wasn't there.) BTW, I saw the guys back stage in Knoxville again and said hi to them from all of you. Ben's new girlfriend is from Adelaide in South Australia. Robert was tired. Darren really appreciated everyone's fascination with his posture at the old trap kit. God bless 'em..... There you go - first it was the McDonalds, now it's foccaccia - I have to stop eating fast food. Actually, your analysis was possibly spot on and it's one that I hadn't thought of - thank you. The significant other is getting a copy of my dream and your analysis for his reference (and mine - I have promised to stop being so critical!). I also *loved* the Hanson refererence (which reminds me, I have 3 blonde jokes for you - Hanson!). Re: the pre-cable reference >And there were only four stations on VHF (2 (PBS), 4 (NBC), 5 (ABC), >and 7 (CBS)) and maybe another three on UHF (38, 56, 68)? >Ahhhhhhhhh... the memories... Hey! This is still my viewing life! Cable is not that popular down here in Oz land yet (except amongst the teenagers and they can't afford it!) and those of my friends that DO have it usually watch commercial TV anyway! I have Channels ABC, 10, 7, and 9 on VHF and SBS, QTV, Sunshine and the local 10 on UHF. So I only have access to 5 different channels for my viewing pleasure! (and people wonder why I read books while listening to BFF and eat foccaccia and then have strange dreams). How do those of you with cable ever have time to watch it? As it is I tape one show and watch another on Wednesday nights. And I have to tape my viewing pleasures on Fridays as well coz I am always out on Friday nights (and I can't possibly miss Good News Week - I get withdrawal symptoms). Ummmm Bentent - yes! I do have some! There was a big family lunch at my parents place on the weekend and I played WAEA during it. I think I have converted pretty much my whole family to the cause. They all loved it! Especially, Song for the Dumped - although Brick was not that popular with them which surprised me! Anyway, any conversion is a good conversion. Erik: re the donations to smoe.org - I am happy to make a donation but I have no idea how to! I am concerned that if I simply send over a cheque most of the donation will be swallowed up in converting the cheque from $Au to $US. I can't really afford to send more than $20 Australian (between my mortgage, and living expenses I have very little money left over from my weekly wage - I have to save to buy CD's - which are about $30 Australian each over here), which I think would be about $10 US. And I don't really have any desire to line a banks pocket instead of smoe.org. Could you put something up on the list for us overseas people? or refer it to the organiser of the fundraising deal if you want. I am sure I am not the only one who is asking this question. See you all at the funny farm (which is where I will be soon if my workload doesn't decrease!) Anyway, thank you all for reading my little note - I needed a good venting spot and I am afraid you got it! Sorry it ended up being so long.
