Maybe this is just incredibly wishful thinking on my part, but does anybody else have this fantasy that they'll play new 3rd (studio) album stuff on tour? Oh, and just on a bentent sidenote -- I heard Brick in a Minnetonka Walmart yesterday. oh man, does that crush the soul. I felt like I was in a parallel universe. Lyons" Subject: HORDE Aboard! HORDE Tour Date information has been released. Starts early and ends later than last year. As you may know, Blues Traveler is taking a *back to the roots* approach for this one, so it should be interesting (They are headlining). Some of the artists currently scheduled: Paula Cole, Smashing Pumpkins, BNL, Gov't Mule, Ben Harper, Marcy Playground and Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise. Someone on the MA(=mostly anticholinesterase) mentioned the BF5 will be back again. Welp, me being in absolutely no position to get *insider* information, I can't say whether or not this is true. But I will keep my ear to the mouse. Or fingers to the ground. Or, whatever. I will keep my testicles....er, I mean, tentacles alerted... nevermind. So here is the addy for the HORDE dates. I suggest checking here often for updates. Also, Blues T. website is a FINE place to browse. http://www.pollstar.com/pssearch.exe/an.cgi?Artist="HORDE+Festival" ALSO, for those of us on this list (and you know who you are) who are a tad up there in age, check this fun diddy-bit of information. Culture Club, Human League AND the one and only Howard Jones are touring together this summer. THIS is a good rub. If only they would take the place of the ROCK NEVER STOPS tour at our state fair. OUCH. I think Markus died in one of those Boeings he works around. It was inevitable. Anne is *too* busy for us. Working women of the 90's. They ignore all the *little* people who they use as a step ladder to fame.... Sandi is currently on tour with Aqua. She is the Barbie Girl. Eric, with an American "c", is too busy with the COF. They are in the middle of a bitter legal battle with the band to patent their new COF product, called the Inaferatisical Wonder Drug. Ask *him* what that means. Tina is trapped in a cubicle and can't find her way out. Send food and water to IEPA, Cubicle #752, Springfield, IL. Erik, the FL, is HERE, has always been HERE, and will forever be...around. Class dismissed.... ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 27 Apr 1998 08:06:27 -0700 From: "Kamp, Marcus S" Subject: Courtney's Benless in Seattle Yes, Courtney, I too long for a BFF return to this, the most beautiful part of the country. & @ the Feb. show @ DV8 here in Seattle, even Ben said something about not getting to play here anywhere near often enough. Unfortunately, as we all know, the boys don't exactly choose their own tour dates. Sony does. Trips to Seattle & Portland often are seen as too damned expensive, seein' as we're way up here by our little lonesomes. That's fine, I guess. I mean, would you trade not getting to see BFF more frequently for having to live any closer to California? 1ce a year is just fine w/me, baby. Besides, I don't think I could handle the hipper-than-thou kids that were @ the last show any more frequently than that. For now, just spend your time between shows reveling in the austere & dramatic beauty that is the Pacific NW! Why do you think they call it the "Greater NW" anyway?! BEN FOLDS FIVE IS FOR THE CHILDREN!!! ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 27 Apr 1998 14:17:40 -0400 From: Carrie Subject: Erik, Erik, Erik ... forgot to make up an excuse for me. I was so happy to see someone missed me! Today was my last day of classes. It was orgasmically delicious. I also learned that I have no final in Philosophy, and I dropped Chemistry, and I knew I didn't have one in Chemlab, so all I have is two exams next Wednesday. Guess what Carrie is doing until then... Sleeping late and reading!! :-D Oh, and tonight we're drinking Blackhaus till we ... finish the bottle. I suppose the reason that I haven't posted is because I haven't any Bentent to post. I know that's awful, but... there's not much going on in my life related to the Fab Five right now. I've actually been having a Bogmen life recently, probably due to my acquisition of their new CD, "Closed Captioned Radio," and finding out not everyone hates them on first listen. Well, hell! This post isn't very exciting!! I'm athinkin'.... Uhh... I went to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the first time, and despite popular opinion, it does NOT suck. I thought it was rather cool, in fact. My mother and I got to share moments of pro-Donovanism together, and I got to see Pete Seeger's banjo head, which must be either his old one, or a recent addition, as I sang with him a few years back with a choir I was in and it still said "This machine surrounds hate and forces it to surrender"... Oh Pete! :-) Anyway, the "house that rock built" is worth seeing, but I wouldn't go more than once or travel a massive distance to see it. It has some good new wave punk stuff too (although frightfully absent are the Dead Kennedys... hmmmm....) I haven't had any sex dreams about any of the members of BFF.... ever. Most of mine revolve around inaccessibly homosexual English TA's. *frustration* >Besides, I don't think I could >handle the hipper-than-thou kids that were @ the last show any more >frequently than that. Poor Marcus... He may have to attempt a ConBENtion to hang with some of us hipper-than-Marcus kids... We are of a much higher caliber than the average hipper-than-Marcus types. ;-) Well, that's it for awhile. I'm about to go crawl back into my lonely little hole. Is anyone coming out for Sunflower Fest, May 16th, in Lawrence? Should be a damn fine show... Plus, I'll be there! I promise to entertain... "She sings, she dances, she crawls on her belly like a snake!" (Actually, there are parts of ConBENtion I don't remember so well... I may have fulfilled all of those requirements.) As always, your Carrie "Don't cross that line between you and your girl The heat of her breath means to take a step back Club lights are snipers -- don't cross that line Chaperones take aim in the rafters" -- The Bogmen, "Dark Waltz" ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 27 Apr 1998 17:00:53 EDT From: Snowwite67 Subject: What da hell is goin on 'round here? Okay, okay I'm excited yet very very confused. Today, I was in the dinning hall at school and I hear one of my friends say, " Yeah, Lauren loves Ben Folds Five, you should tell her." "Tell me what!?" I yell from across the room. So this girl pulls out these BFF tickets that someone had given her for free!! So, anyways, impressed but not too moved since I already have my own tickets to two shows in Cali. " So which show are you going to?" I ask. "The one at the Shoreline on May 10th." she replies....STOP. The Shoreline??? No, they are playing in San Jose on May 10th. Besides the only places they are going to be at in Ca are Hollywood, San Jose, and San Diego. I know this because I'm going to all but the San Diego one, ( I have finals) :(. I look at her tickets and sure enough it says Shoreline at 4pm. But they're playing in San Jose at 7:30 same day about 45 mintues away. So I say, "hey I'll buy those off you." and she says, "I got them for free I wouldn't make you pay. If the girl who gave them to me doesn't mind, you can have them". I CAN HAVE THEM??? Three shows in twenty four hours!!!! WOO HOO!! So I come home and look at the tour dates and Shoreline is not on there! What's going on? Does anyone know about this? Shoreline is a very big place. Lilith Faire is there. Damn, the Spice Girls will be there this summer!! How can they playing such a big venue and it not be on their tour list?? Sorry this is so long but I really want to know if this is a mistake or something. I don't want to be driving all over California on May 10th to shows that aren't there! :) - -Lauren P.S Got my mix tape's is a masterpiece, One Angry Dwarf single, and Uncle Walter single Cd's in the mail today!! :) ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 27 Apr 1998 16:30:07 -0600 From: "Erik C. Lyons" Subject: Just a guess Maybe the Shoreline date is part of a festival and they will only be playing for a few minutes. Who knows. Since superdrag is opening for them, maybe they have time to do 2 gigs. If the venues are relatively close to each other, that would be my guess. But as Carrie always says, "what does he know? he is a man. men are pigs. men can't be trusted." yadda yadda yadda.... Carrie need man. Carrie need straight man. or a prodding..... ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 27 Apr 1998 18:39:26 EDT From: Snowwite67 Subject: Ahhhh Bass, what don't they know? Alrighty, I'm responding to myself here. I called Bass, like I should've in the first place. The concert has been moved to the Shoreline and is now at 4pm...thanks for letting us all know Bass. I called a radio station who was giving away the shoreline tickets and asked them about it first, before I called Bass. When I asked why it had been changed, the DJ said that she knew, but she wasn't allowed to tell why. Is that wierd or what? - -Lauren ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 27 Apr 1998 18:39:33 -0400 From: Carrie Subject: Erik is a big poo. >But as Carrie always says, "what does he know? >he is a man. men are pigs. men can't be trusted." I never said this. I think I said, "Good-looking men can't be trusted to be straight," or perhaps, "Erik can't be trusted at all," but I have nothing in particular against the penis-bearing types, except that they don't get that kick-in-the-gut ovulation thing. And no, picking up a Women's Studies minor does NOT make me a man-basher... unless they ask *very* nicely. >Carrie need man. Carrie need straight man. or a prodding..... Erik, honey, I knows ya means well, but I would do fine on my own if I *really* needed... prodding...
