(you're talking about the 3/98 issue, right?) I love the Squirrel Nut Zippers... unfortunately, since Madison has absolutely NO decent venues in which to perform, any time I want to see something other than a local ska band, I need to drive to Milwaukee or Chicago. Not that they're playing around here anytime soon, are they? And I mosh to nothing because it's dumb. But we're not going to start that thread. What was my point? Why am I posting? When the hell are the Tinley Park tickets going to go on sale? Questions that will never be answered... scott Where have Anne, Tina, Matthew and Sandi been? I haven't seen posts from you guys in for-ever! Has the original gang disappeared into thin air? ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 10 Apr 1998 07:21:19 -0700 From: "Kamp, Marcus S" Subject: May 16th So, BFF will be playing Lawrence on the day of my ex-wife's graduation from KU Med. How Feckin' Apprropriate! I could fly out there & convince them to play SftD really loud during the graduation ceremony. Did anyone else hear Ben's interview on NPR's Fresh Air last night? More importantly, did anyone tape it? Excellent 30-minute interview that I didn't know would be on till it started. Our fearless Files leader is slipping in his duties to inform & entertain w/press releases about the boys!!! Then, when I came in from listening to it in my car--my roommate was more interested in MARIAH CAREY's interview on Mtv not-so-Live:-(!--I had a message on my machine from Lisa Boyle, lingerie model extraordinaire!!! I think I would've forgone Ben's interview to get that call--hell, I think Ben would've missed his own damned interview for that call!!! How many times can 1 message be played before the tape wears out? I'll let you know when it breaks! My name is Kellie...I've been lurking amongst you for quite awhile now (Thanks to the beautiful, lovely and talented Carrie.). I'm not sure as to what to say- in fact I feel like such a nerd but I've been telling Carrie that I was going to post and I keep putting it off...so here I am. :) My reason for posting is this: Carrie neglected to tell you that the Ben Folds Five concert in Lawrence is May 16. Its the Sunflower Festival and the other bands that are playing are Tonic, Medeski Martin & Wood, Ween, Spacehog and Superdrag. Also, if anybody wants to go and needs a place to stay- let me know. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 10 Apr 1998 13:59:12 -0400 From: Carrie Subject: Thanks, Kellie! Kellie, Ma Peche Extraodinaire, is such a nice chick! Man, she could have like 50 people come for the concert, stay in her room... Something to look forward to!! :-) Oh, oh oh... Oh, oh oh!! I look forward to this Lawrence thing with extreme pleasure. I've seen Ween live before, but my mistake then was that I really only went to hear "Piss up a Rope". "12 Golden Country Greats" is their only album that I know anything about, so I go to a packed show full to the brim of obsessed Ween fans, all swaying in a thick pack and doing heavy drugs. I felt so out of place... Presumably, though, because it's at a festival, it won't be quite so scary. I left their show after 2 hours of their set and it looked like it could have gone on for weeks. (Yes, they played Piss Up a Rope...) They do have talent, though. Superdrag should be good, and Spacehog does a great live show, according to my Spacehogging brother. Tonic, I could happily live without, and I missed seeing Medeski Martin & Wood at HORDE last summer. Anyhoo, this is just to say that Lawrence is a great place to see a show, especially the ever-popular Ben Folds Trio, and festivals there are an excellent time in any case. I do hereby suggest a filling-up of the gas tank and a trip out to lovely Northeastern Kansas for the May 16th show. If you'll need directions or anything, let me know. Lawrence is easy to get to and rather simple to navigate in most respects. Adios, loves. (i'm scared) Okay this morning while getting my Ben Folds Five tickets I took at look at this months SPIN. It has the like 50 most important artists in it. So I am shuffling through looking for someone worthy of that title and I spy Belle & Sebastian, so I think BFF's gotta be in here, and they are. I read the little interview with ben and I was about to close the magazine when I looked at the very small pic of the boys. I almost scremed in fright: They were ALL in red shirts, and Ben was writing "Ben Folds Five" on glass in front of them in RED paint.... I tell you this is getting really wierd!!! And Carrie, how could we EVER get sick of you Happy Holidays All! Amanda ------------------------------ End of The Rockford Files V1 #82 ********************************
