We fear that it might become another Stratolounger. However, that is entirely up to us. We control this list's destiny & if we don't want it to suck, then LET'S NOT MAKE IT SUCK!!! Erik is still kicking much arse for doing everything in his power to make sure this list lives on in the infamy I (humbly) have helped create, so (to be tragically hip, or hiply tragic) "shout out" to E, the man. Remember, just like BFF, the fact that this here Files has grown to superstar status does NOT mean we, the loyal core, have been abandoned. (No, this isn't meant to start some Armchairian debate about who's been here longer. This is just to allay some fears that I know some of the list's old farts may have. I personally welcome all newcomers to the fray & extend to them the long-standing invite to our next lounge party way out here in Seattle.) Oh yeah, BUY SINFOROSA TAPES WHENEVER POSSIBLE (namely, through me:-)!)!!! Okay, so ignore that earlier post from me. Erik has cleared everything up. :) I think this Majordomo thing is just peachy. Same RF, just less work for him. Here's a short mention for my post: Was at the DMV yesterday because a roommate had to renew his license, and they had 'Brick' playing over the PA. Weird experience, for some reason. Then they broke into 'Modern Love' by David Bowie. Did the DMV suddenly get a taste in music or something? The workers still seemed disgruntled, if it's of any consequence. scott In CD player (since we all seem to be mentioning it): BFF: WAEA, B&S: If You're Feeling Sinister, Pet Shop Boys: Behavior, Elvis Costello: Extreme Honey, Stinkfish: ...Does It Again. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Mar 1998 14:32:38 EST From: F2G 2 Subject: thanks a heap, you stoned server. i had this terrific emotive letter, full of important things i felt needed said. and the server butchered it. remember this everyone, big brother didn't give up, he's just behind schedule. smile. anyhow......to reiterate the points i had cyber-dissected. i talked for awhile in a very eloquent fashion about how the armchair had become an unfriendly place and i didn't want to see that happen here. and with the advent of this letter being run by a server who can handle tons more people and will admit anyone (?---even people like me!) i could foresee this letter holding out for awhile, then going the way of the armchair. erik posting these nasty little stay-on-topic or else notes and everybody unsubscribing in droves, excepting the few who want to know about what the lyrics to brick mean. i would like to keep this a happy little family. that's important to me. if it's important to you to, well.......talk out. secondly:robbie faulks. does anyone know how to get ahold of his cd? what label is he on? what's his agent's name or his home phone #? what's robbie's phone #? i have this friend who works for a local country music station/yadda yadda yadda/and since robbie's what country should be like, i thought he would be perfect for the summer/spring country festival that said radio station and pepsi are putting on. i think that's about it. but it sounded tons better in my PREVIOUS fuckin letter. matthew ps. Hi all! Welp. I think I missed the first majordomo issue, due to the fact that I had a meeting yesterday afternoon, and was away from my e-mail. Today I am home with a touch of the flu. So anyway -- I missed any instructions we may have received, but since I make it a point never to read instructional manuals (even though I spent more than a year writing them) it probably wouldn't have done me any good whatsoever anyway. I now need to apologize, as I may be repeating news that other people have written. If this has already been written about... well, I send my regrets in advance, since the last thing I want to do is turn this into the MA (you know... with 10 or 12 posts all stating the same thing, like "SNL sucks, man!" or whatever.) That said... Did anyone catch Dawson's Creek on Tuesday? And yes, I am 28 years old... what can I say -- I got sucked in. And I like the fact that the main character, who is all goofy and sweet and charming and senstive (just like all the guys I knew in high school) also played the nasty jock guy (Rick) in 'Angus'. *Anyway*... moving on... at the end of the show on Tuesday, at the climactic moment (Dawson and his little chiquita are breaking up... oh what angst!) -- the slow and mournful notes from one of my favorite songs strike up... I can barely concentrate on the trite dialogue of the show as I am bouncing up and down in my seat chanting "It can't be! It can't be!" But it was. 'Evaporated' was used as an echo to the action culminating in a break-up on the screen. It was perfect... right down to the "Oh God... what have I done?" as Dawson turns and walks away from that NY loosey goosey. And yes, I do believe that "loosey goosey" is the technical term. Let's see, what else? Oh yeah... Erik! Sandi ain't the only one who is a Crue fan! Haven't we all had our own Decades of Decadence? I certainly remember making out to 'Too Young to Fall In Love' at one summer party at "The Pit" (an outdoor drinking spot). As I recall, it must have been one of the first parties I ever went to... as I distinctly remember pouring my cup o' swill from a beer ball (Matt's brand), which have been illegal in Massachusetts for a long, long time! Aaaaaahhhhh... my golden misspent youth. -Anne ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Mar 1998 22:17:30 EST From: Sandibrady Subject: Dawson's Creek Okay, so I DON'T watch the show, but I had to comment on Anne's post because I got 3 phone calls from friends saying "Did you watch Dawson's Creek? They played your song!" I was like, "you must be mistaken, because MY song is 'Evaporated' and it would never be on a lame show like that..." Now, no offense meant Anne, I just figured it wasn't a high quality show...but I may have to start watching if they actually play cool tunes... It was a great thing that they played *my song* though because now I have proof that my friends watch shitty tv shows and now none of them can make fun of some of the stupid stuff I've been known to watch. HA! I wrote my mom an email last night while I was still in full swing as far as my backward speak goes...and she replied...the first line of her note was: <> My mom is a nurse and she always gets all the crazies. ha ha. So she asked when my "GNIRPS KAERB" begins and signed the note "evol, MOM". She's so cute. And okay, I'm rambling! Geezz... So, for more BF5 content: What show will we hear a BF5 song on next? Any ideas? How about ALLY MCBEAL? That would ROOOOOOCCCCKKKK! How many more Crue fans do we have here? It's me, Erik and Anne so far...come on you guys, give it up. Some like it loud, some like it loud, some like it LOUD, louder than hell! - --idnaS ------------------------------ End of The Rockford Files V1 #49 ********************************
