Curve tracks like I Speak Your Every Word, No Escape From Heaven, Missing Link etc really remind me of Garbage, and Subhuman and I guess Dog New Tricks vice versa. If they were to write songs and let each other record them I think you'd be hard pushed to tell whose was whose. I must say that "Come Clean" is much more what I wanted Version 2.0 to sound like than all the poppy trash. (btw, isn't the Curve comp. "Pubic Fruit" rather than Public?) I really enjoyed Garbage at Reading but had to miss the middle of the set as I was dragged off in the name of compromise to see some of Spiritualised's set. I'm a bit gutted that they seem to have dropped Supervixen and Fix Me Now these days, and if they're not playing Dumb then I'm rapidly running out of faves... oh, and what was Shirley on about them not having any big hits to play for the encore? Only 3 or 4 in the top ten, it's their own bloody fault if they play them all early. From the response around me to "...Paranoid" they should have saved that one. She talks too much anyway... Dan. As I predicted yesterday UK music sheets NME and Melody Maker have both trashed the band's performance at Reading - continuing their "Garbage are the Worst Band in the World" campaign. Example from MM - "Garbage appear to have given up....Garbage don't even want to be Garbage" Apparently, according to reviewist John Robinson(who?), the stars of the day were the monotonic and repetitive New Order. "Pubic Fruit" rather than Public?) hum, weird...most reviews i have read about 'Come Clean' either say the album is pretty bad or that at best, it's average...as for the compilation, it's pubic fruit...someone mentioned their brother own some weird record by curve named pubic fruit when i said i was listening to curve... kev http://www.geocities.com/SouthBeach/Marina/6273/index.html np: nothing "soma airwaves of killing oxygen we queue consuming anything hate all songs, aesthetic slavery now" - -manic street preachers ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 2 Sep 1998 15:12:25 -0600 (MDT) From: Josh Nadler Subject: Re: arg! > trash. The label says they're waiting for Garbage's Version 2.0 to die down ("I Think I'm Paranoid" is still going strong, and the next single, "Special," should prove to have a good run as well) before sitting Ms. Manson down and talking business. You see, she's still contractually bound to radioactive... - -Miss Truth _______________________________________________ all contents are the copyright ) 1996, 1997,1998 of N2K Inc. any derivative works of this content must hyperlink to and credit: "Rocktropolis allstar News at http://allstarmag.com" Send comments, inquiries, hot scoops and slow wet kisses to contact@allstarmag.com.L ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 2 Aug 1998 22:57:46 -0400 From: "kevin" Subject: Re: Garbage Were Crap at Reading.... > From: Alan > To: recycled-bin@smoe.org > Subject: Garbage Were Crap at Reading.... > Date: 02 September 1998 14:18 > > As I predicted yesterday UK music sheets NME and Melody Maker have both > trashed the band's performance at Reading - continuing their "Garbage > are the Worst Band in the World" campaign. > Example from MM - "Garbage appear to have given up....Garbage don't even > want to be Garbage" hum...since when did the british press become so negative towards Garbage ? or is it just a bad Reading review ? i always thought the press were on okay terms w/Garbage...not kissing their asses like they do w/Richard Ashcroft or Thom Yorke, but still good enough... > Apparently, according to reviewist John Robinson(who?), the stars of the > day were the monotonic and repetitive New Order. always thought 'World In Motion' was a damn good song...did they play that by any chance ? kev http://www.geocities.com/SouthBeach/Marina/6273/index.html np: Have You Seen Her Lately ? by Pulp on His 'N' Hers "if you stand up like a nail then you will be knocked down" - -manic street preachers ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 3 Sep 1998 05:45:11 +0100 From: Alan Subject: Re: Garbage Were Crap at Reading.... It's mainly NME and MM.....the monthly mags seem to give a more objective view but we will have to wait till next month to find out what they thought about the Reading performance.Interestingly,in a recent letter to the NME someone complained that the paper always heaped praise on a particular band (Embrace?) even though the reader argued that they were a load of crap(a kind of Garbage situation in reverse!).The reply from the Editor was that they had always supported this particular band from the beginning and wouldn't change just because they had become popular! In other words they are either for or against individual bands - quite a bizarre situation, don't you think? >> Apparently, according to reviewist John Robinson(who?), the stars of the >> day were the monotonic and repetitive New Order. > >always thought 'World In Motion' was a damn good song...did they play that >by any chance ? Sorry,I didn't pay that much attention.I was standing way back from the stage....that guy's voice really irritates me so if they ever made a good song it would just get in the way I guess! alan ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 3 Sep 1998 05:49:35 +0100 From: Alan Subject: Re: arg!
