Of course, one of my favourite titles was actually a band called "The Sid James Experience". Marvellous. Never sold an album though, which I believe is a shame for all humanity - could be because they were crap though. "Pile O'Shite" sounds quite good too, though it may put people off buying the record - just like the "what's that? oh, just garbage" situation. The other thing about putting bands into compartments that I find funny is the whole "Alternative" label. It seems to encompass everything from Alanis (ah-hem? excuse me?) to highly obscure bands recorded on 4-tracks in a concrete bunker in Eastern Europe. Over here we have "indie" as a state of mind/music, or alternatively whether the label they are signed to is an independent or not - all depending on the band's PR of course. Using "Alternative" is daft. I mean, alternative to what? If you look at the sales of all the indie/alternative bands dominating the world charts, surely the realistic "Alternative" section in Tower would contain Barry Manilow, Neil Sedaka, Mantovani, Daniel O'Donnell and countless other skin-crawlingly awful people that form the "alternative" to the high-selling indie crowd. :) Btw, heard from Carrie that this month's EQ magazine features a big article about Butch and the new album - i.e. how it sounds etc...
