Wow. This ugly wrinkle had eluded me. Another reason to record ALL the
damn shows, rather than just a few. Amazing. Glad I didn't hear any of

Yes. That's an example of semiotics in music. The music acts as a sign
to describe, in this instance, an idea in the lyrics.

I was fine with a rental car in the U.K. on the '98 tour. I wouldn't
have driven a rental over there right off the plane, but after a few
days riding around once in a while in a cab or, well, Mike Gray's car,
and I wasn't worried. Renting adds up to a lot of money too fast. My car
has over 332,000 miles on it, so I don't take it past Baltimore or
Annapolis anymore. I wish I could afford to go elsewhere on this tour. I
just hope the D.C. concert takes away the bad taste in my mouth from
Philly, at least. Yikes.
