We have a department in our library that handles all video purchasing requests - both the "I saw myself on TV and wanted a copy" and the "We're making a documentary and wanted to include some footage..." types. The same department that sells the video will give you a licensing agreement that explains how you can use the footage, if you can sell the resulting product, etc. Get the main number for CBS, ABC, NBC (probably all NYC phone numbers), and whomever else and ask the operator to put you through to the department that handles video sales. If these companies don't do it themselves, they'll have a name and number and refer you on. If so, trading or downloading isn't the answer for her." you nailed it, Richard.. that's pretty much what I want to do because I want to be able to use that stuff to practice with my video editing and, someday, be able to show it off (if applicable) as an unofficial "portfolio reel" of sorts. (I certainly wouldn't sell the resulting work that I made, after all.. cuz from what I understand, THAT'S illegal. besides, it's just not nice.) Sincerely, Cyndi S.
