And I had an idea. I think Tori is a femyle Jim Morrison. He was an enthralling entertainer, not that I have first hand experience or anything, but I did watch the footage on the doc. I was just as fixed upon him on TV through all these decades as I would be in that concert hall that night. And Tori is capable of the same talent. I mean, that's no shocker. I'm sure all of us on this list will say that when you are lucky enough to witness her live, it's as if she's only singing to you. And the power she exudes... And then, Tori and Jim both begin, squeeze in, or end with improvs. And amazing, long, beautiful improvs. It never ceases to impress me how she can come up with these brilliant half-songs before singing girls that are masterpieces in themselves. This was also apparent on the footage of The Doors concert footage. Another similarity is their sexual power on stage. Watching Jim last night reminded me that he is like a wolf. His eyes are dark, yet shining; moving erotically around on stage. And if you've ever read any article on Tori you know they mention her relationship with her piano stool. Not only that though. The way she smiles, the way her eyes show that she knows. She knows even without being told. The way her music moves through her and floats toward us. Peace Out, Amanda "You and me will all go down in History. With a sad statue of Liberty and a Generation that didn't agree." - --------------------------------- Yahoo! Just spotted this on The Dent with no explanation - have I missed something? (Though I cant have missed as much as the reviewer has - kind enough though they are, if s/he thinks C&G is cryptic they must get very confused reading instruction manuals!) Pete x change, my dear >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Review of the single "Cars And Guitars" Updated Sun, Nov 27, 2005 - 4:52am ET The Herald News Daily newspaper, based in Williston, ND, printed a short review of the single Cars And Guitars in their November 26, 2005 edition. The source for this review is Reuters/Billboard. Click to read the review. Thanks to Clint for alerting us to this article. You can read it online at heraldnewsdaily.com or below: SINGLE: CARS AND GUITARS "Cars and Guitars" is the new offering from Tori Amos ' latest album, "The Beekeeper." As an artist very much in control of her sound, it is a credit to her production skills that she has created a pop-leaning song while maintaining her alternative roots. The lighthearted nature of "Cars and Guitars" is conveyed with skipping drums, a touch of piano and chants of "cha ch ch cha," wrapped in a blithe melody. Since her lyrics always have layered meanings, no clear interpretation of the song is apparent: Lines like "If I choke boy you start me up again/Restring my wires y'know/This gear box can make the shift polish my rims" are full of possibilities. But the words do relay a sense of a relationship lost, adding some bitter to the music's sweetness. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 27 Nov 2005 20:17:58 -0500 From: wojizzle forizzle Subject: cars and guitars single review one assumes this is a promotional cd rather than a proper cd single release. scroll down a bit for the review.... http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20051127/music_nm/review_music_singles_dc_1 ARTIST: TORI AMOS SINGLE: CARS AND GUITARS "Cars and Guitars" is the new offering from Tori Amos' latest album, "The Beekeeper."
