February 17, 2005, 10:45 AM ET Amos Embarking On Solo Piano Tour Tori Amos has confirmed plans to open a solo piano tour April 1 in Clearwater, Fla. The month-long Original Sinsuality theater outing has 14 confirmed dates, closing April 25 in Los Angeles. "It's just going to be her playing, no band," Amos' manager, John Witherspoon, tells Billboard.com, describing such past outings as "a fan favorite." Amos last toured behind 2002's "Scarlet's Walk," which featured her on piano and organ backed by drummer Matt Chamberlain and bassist Jon Evans. "We always like to change it up a little," Witherspoon adds. "So we're going back to purely solo for the first time since 2001." The April dates come in support of "The Beekeeper," due Tuesday (Feb. 22) via Epic. Fans can expect to find Amos accompanied by her Bsendorfer piano and her other dominant instrument on "The Beekeeper," a Hammond B3 organ. "The organ is very male in my estimation," Amos tells Billboard.com. "And sometimes I felt like I would change as a person when I played it. And when I play it I feel like I am not this red-headed person that looks like I look. I feel really sexy and kind of like a twin cousin of Jimmmy Smith. Not that I play like him, I'm not suggesting that, but I'm saying I feel like I am, and I feel like calling up all these chicks and asking them out!" After breezing through the United States, Amos will launch a three-week European tour, with plans to return to Stateside in July for six-to-eight weeks of touring with a band. With "The Beekeeper" out next week and her book, "Tori Amos: Piece By Piece" (Broadway Books), co-written with Ann Powers, already in stores, Amos is undertaking a substantial promotional schedule. Tonight (Feb. 17) she'll appear on CBS' "The Late Show With David Letterman" and Saturday will find her on NBC's "Weekend Today." Also on tap is a Feb. 22 stop "Live With Regis & Kelly" (syndicated) and a live MSN chat that night, a Feb. 23 book signing at Barnes & Noble's Union Square New York location, Feb. 24's An Evening in Conversation with Powers at the city's 92nd St. Y, as well as an-as-yet-unscheduled appearance on NBC's "Last Call With Carson Daly." A U.S. book signing tour will open March 14 in Los Angeles and visit San Francisco, Chicago, Washington, D.C. and Boston. Here are Amos' tour dates: April 1: Clearwater, Fla. (Ruth Eckard Hall) April 3: Orlando, Fla. (Bob Carr Theatre) April 4: Atlanta (Symphony Hall) April 6: Washington, D.C.
