Hey everyone, Although "Hotel" mentions "the velvets," characters from Neil Gaiman's book "Neverwhere," I don't see much evidence that the song is about Neil as a whole. It just doesn't fit for me. However, I've never sat down and really pondered the lyrics, so maybe it is about him. Next time I listen to it, I'll try to think about it in a Neil context. It's never been a favorite of mine; the lyrics are just too obscure. Later, Tom M. Ok...to me the person she's singing about in the hotel is Death. The Grim Reaper coming to take her baby away. That is in essence what Choirgirl is all about-her miscarriage. "Death Lurking". She said it herself. Each song on that album can be literally translated into some form of loss. In the beginning of the song she says "this is one for lollipop Gestapo" which translated to me means Baby Snatcher, Gestapo being police and lollipop referring to child. Something to ponder. Hotel was really like feeling like an agent - a spy - in that he was the greatest guy at one time and they were giving me time behind enemy lines. Even though she knows they cant be lovers because its a whole other life, she just cant let him go. [Alternative Press - July 1998 http://www.yessaid.com/toriamos.html so maybe it is about loss but more about a loss of relationship. maybe she's talking trent? b/c she is still friends with neil and i dunno if there was any romantic involvement b/w them. of course, i somehow recall a comment about how she met neil in a hotel, but that could be wrong. of course, maybe it just represents several past relationships and no one in particular. fun to try to unravel. thanks for the topic. - -ellen - --- ToridRoses@aol.com wrote: > > Ok...to me the person she's singing about in the > hotel is Death. I'm interested in getting a video camera, but I know absolutely nothing about them. For instance, once you've recorded something, how do you get it onto a tape or DVD? Are there cameras available that record directly onto them? What about digital video cams? What about using them to make video files for the Internet? I am completely clueless and have no idea where to start. Any suggestions? Even links to sites or discussion lists with FAQs and info would be helpful.
