I worked concert security in Ohio for 19 years, before getting out of the game a few years ago. Tori and her staff were well aware of the taping which was going on. There were steps in trying to prevent it. In fact, I can say that there were apprehensions as well. This was all somewhat hypocritical to me, right woj!! In fact, I busted somewhat video taping a Tori show at the Cleveland Music Hall from the balcony. The bloke did not cover his little 'red light' up well enough. This must have been the UTP tour? Someone who has a list of all Tori tours can remind me if that is where she played for that tour. Joel, and the rest of security would meet to discuss what we were allowing at each show etc...Taping was never really accepted. I supervised a Tori show at the Cleveland Convocation show where one of the security guards caught someone with the DAT machine. Upon arrival, no-one would own up to the machine, as it was sitting on the wall, next to a row of seats. We just confiscated the DAT. Joel took the tape inside if I remember correctly. I was drooling over that Which, leads me to a story about Bruce Springsteen. I was supervising the "Tom Joad" show in Youngstown. We caught a guy with a DAT machine from high above balcony in the sixth row center. It was a cold Ohio night. When he was brought back to the security office, we discovered DAT tapes of approximately 8 previous shows. Seems this 'guy' (we won't disclose his name) had been following Bruce, and had been one of the best show tapers. Bruce's security had been trying to catch him for a few years. He brought his tapes in that night, as it was too cold for him to leave them in the car. He ended up being prosecuted in the Federal Court later that year. A deposition in how we discovered the taping was written, and the chain of events which occurred afterwards. >If you're interested in taping and trading Tori bootlegs, you might want to >head over to the tori-boot mailing list >. though, of course, it's a perfectly acceptable topic of discussion here too. ;) woj Yes it is, anyone have SW shows from Cleveland!?!?! From: e m Subject: Re: Tori taping policy yes, tori does not allow it, but i don't seem to get the impression that she has security hunting the tapers down. - - -ellen band security. Also, depends on the experience of house security as well. Each night can differ, depending on how many other gigs are in town that night. Who shows up for work. Recored labels also have some input. If they have a rep at a show, they may appear at the pre-show meet. With that said....my list gets yours ;-) haves ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 08 Jan 2005 10:18:24 -0500 From: bisontentacle Subject: beekeeper auction los angeles' star 98.7 is holding an online auction to raise money for relief efforts for those affected by the indian ocean tsunami over christmas. one of the items that is being auctioned is a pre-release copy of _the beekeeper_. here's the item description from the site: >Tori Amos' new CD "The Beekeeper" before it is realeased to the general >public.
