Um, how can you just make a statement like that? I dont think Tori has ever publicly stated she was wiccan, and nothing she has ever described about her spirituality suggest that either. So I'm curious as to what your statement is based on. - -- .: Maria Aguirre:. toriphilemaria@charter.net http//www.toriphilemaria.com " I've heard there's joy untold, that lays open like that road in front of me... Hi Heather, As a witch myself, I would be thrilled to discover that Tori is a fellow Wiccan. However, I've never heard her say this nor have I heard anyone close to her say it. Going by her lyrics, it is certainly possible she's a Wiccan or other type of neo-pagan, as pagan ideas pop now and then. It seems to me to be imprudent to state as fact something so personal about Tori that Tori herself has never claimed to be true. If you have definitive evidence that Tori is a witch, please share it. Also, I don't mean this note to be an attack on you nor am I calling you a liar. I just don't think there is enough evidence of Tori's specific spiritual path for anyone to be certain what her religion is. Cheers, Tom M. I can tell you from having observed Tori (particularly in the beginning of the Welcome To Sunny Florida DVD, right before she walks onstage to perform) that she may not be a WITCH--that is, she may not claim to be Pagan or anything of that sort, but she definitely has a few things that she does spiritually that Pagans do as well. for example. in the DVD, when she's crouching and praying, (or so I think she is, at least) if you look at the floor, you'll notice a kind of a compass laid out on the floor in tape. N, S, E, and W and a little cross in the middle. and I believe she's facing North as she does that. that's just my observation, but it doesn't mean that she goes around saying "yep, I'm a witch. yep, I'm definitely Pagan." it might just mean that she prefers a more Pagan-based way of doing a few things as opposed to the Christian ways she was taught growing up. she HAS read many, MANY books (she's said so herself) after all. I don't doubt that some of the books she's read have to do with general spirituality, Christianity, and Paganism to name a few religious beliefs. Sincerely, Cyndi S. You can be a witch but not be Wiccan. FYI. I don't really think Tori considers herself to be either though. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 10 Nov 2004 16:14:06 -0600 From: Heather Subject: Re: tori is a witch? From: http://www.thedent.com/sitings0501.html Austrian magazine "WIENERIN" calls Tori a "wicca-practicioner" (Nov 5, 2001) - Silvia Klement reports: Tori Amos' name appeared in an article in the Austrian magazine "WIENERIN", issue November 2001, on the subject of Wicca-Witches. It stated that singer Tori Amos acknowledges to be a wicca-practicioner. Other celebrities mentioned: actress Cybill Shepherd. Also http://groups.msn.com/CymmorilsWiccanTeenSite/witchywomen.msnw is the article I first saw (on Lifetime TV's site two years ago or so). As I wrote to Kelley privately (her message hadn't been posted to the list at that time), I've never seen any denials from Tori (and a search on the Dent didn't produce any either), and certainly don't mean anything negative, as I am a witch, too. It is accurate that not all pagans consider themselves witches and that Wicca is only one denomination of paganism; generally all Wiccans consider themselves pagan and witches, though. I consider myself pagan and a witch with Wiccan leanings, for instance; however, I don't subscribe to any particular spiritual pantheon entirely (and few of the pagans/witches/Wiccans I've come into contact with do).
