Cool. Of course I wish it was better, closer, lower, blah blah blah. But let's do some math, shall we? 900 +/- people will see this show / interview. Let's round it down to 900. I live in a city of roughly 300,000 people. That means I'm 1 in 333. Not bad. I live in a suburb of a real big city of 3000000. 1 in 3,333. Still not bad. My state of California has (not counting all the illegal gate crahers) about 30 M. 1 in 33,333. If all the tickets were bought by Californians, ONE out of THIRTY THREE THOUSAND would attend. The USA is lingering near 300 M. Including ALL the illegal gate crashers, imprisoned teen prostitutes, shut-ins scared of the census, homeless, drifters, grifters, vagabonds, backpackers, and elected officials. If I actually make it to New York, I will be 1 in 333,333. In other words, 3 out of every ONE MILLION people in this country will be there. OK, so I'm not one in a million as my mom thinks I am. I'm 3 in a million. I'm in the balcony in row B. Stop by and visit if you still think your seat sucks. Food for thought! Sincerely, George Carasiti Director, Sales and Customer Service the 92nd Street Y you can try calling that number if you want, but i think you'll still have to wait until january to get tickets, even by phone. woj ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 18 Aug 2004 11:26:38 -0700 From: Beth Winegarner Subject: Re: precious-things-digest V9 #88 > From: "Pete Lambert" > Thought I'd mention this in case people noticed it elsewhere and worried - > there was a flash flood in north Cornwall yesterday through the coastal > village of Boscastle, but that's not where Tori's based (I'm pretty sure). > http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/cornwall/3571844.stm > I think Tori's mentioned that Martian Engineering is on a farm a few miles > inland, so have no fear, Tori & co. There's a witchcraft museum there which has some amazing artifacts culled from local witches throughout the centuries. There's also a youth hostel. It's a tiny little town (they don't even have a bank!) up the road from Tintagel. The whole area's quite small, though. If Boscastle flooded (it's hard to see how, since it's on a river that flows straight into the ocean, but it's also in a very steep valley), other nearby towns at least got heavy rains.
