Just watched my DVD last night and (as everyone else) WOW!!!! A couple of things that I noticed that I'd like to share/discuss. 1 - How much better does 'Your Cloud' work live than on the record?! 2 - All the fuss about the censoring of 'professional widow'. (Yes it is a shame as it breaks up the melodic line and it really dulls the effect of what you just know is the loudest note of the whole show... You know which one I'm talking about... you can see it on her face.) But after all that, did anyone else notice that Tori has transposed the 3/4 section down from C to, I think A (but correct me) and wonder why? She's obviously still got the notes (evidenced in 'Cooling' and that great 'Hey Jupiter'). 3 - It has been growing this way for a while but doesn't 'Cornflake Girl' seem like she's kinda giggling at how seriously she took it ten years ago? Just my coupl'a cents. See ya! "your cloud" and its stately grace quickly became one of my favorite songs from the record, but i agree that the live performance of it is spectacular. i think part of it was the lovely lighting on that song but it's probably equally due to the way tori sings the background lyrics in the foreground during the build-up to the chorus. and the swirling bass notes just kill me. >2 - All the fuss about the censoring of 'professional widow'. (Yes it is >a shame as it breaks up the melodic line and it really dulls the effect of >what you just know is the loudest note of the whole show... You know which >one I'm talking about... you can see it on her face.) on one hand, i'm not bothered by the decision to bleep out the dirty words. i mean, we all know what she said and if you have half a brain you can figure it out too. but i guess that points to the pointlessness of the action, which i am bothered by. the fact is that she sang those words and bleeping them out does not change that. bleeping them out doesn't protect anyone from what she said and simply creates the illusion of "clean", not the presence of it. ah well. that's not really something to get bothered by either, i suppose. >3 - It has been growing this way for a while but doesn't 'Cornflake Girl' >seem like she's kinda giggling at how seriously she took it ten years ago? personally, i'm amused that she takes it as seriously as she still does. ;) but i think you are right in that she seems to have a whole lot of fun playing and seeing the audience's reaction to it. woj ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V9 #67 ************************************
