Crawford Yes! I guess that's one of those questions which, when it comes down to it, the people who get a chance are just too bashful to ask. But artists rarely say "we will never work together again" (as I think I remember reading they had) in an amicable way. I can't help wondering (pure speculation) whether it was over writing credits. I've always assumed that when Tori works with other musicians there's some kind of pre-composing agreement that they must sign. To the best of my knowledge the only time she's ever shared a writing credit (on a track put out under her own name, at least) was with UTP/BfP era bass player George Porter Jnr, on Samurai, which turned up on the CALS UK ltd edition CD single*. Now, when recording with other musicians, there MUST have been occasions when someone said "hey Tori, how about going to A minor instead of A major as we come out of the bridge?", so I'm guessing that if you do something like that with tori you get a pay-off rather than a joint writing credit and the rights to royalties that would come out of it. Or maybe not. Maybe the songs really are all fully formed before Tori let's the Boys In The Band add their bits. Ah, now a fly-on-the-wall documentary on the making of a Tori album - THAT would be amazing. *(sigh, ok, "you know you're obsessed with Tori when...." #99879, "...you realised that, if you add together all the occasional minutes that you've spent wondering WHY George Porter Jnr got a credit for Samurai, and no one else ever got a credit for anything with her, its definitely Too Much Time") Right, having got that off my chest, I shall now go to bed and worry about the obvious (probably) misprint on the Spark single that makes everyone think it's "Purple People (Christmas in Space)" dispite the space-y sound effects and it's-the-bside-of-Spark implications that say it should be "(Christmas In Space) Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" instead. Grace Red Rocks Set Coldplay, R.E.M., U2, Willie Nelson and Ben Harper are among the artists represented via live recordings on "Carved in Stone Vol. 2," recorded at the famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre outside Denver. The 10-track album will be available in the Denver area beginning June 4 and nationally on June 15. It follows the 2003 release of the first "Carved in Stone," which featured Phish, Widespread Panic and Indigo Girls. The lone previously released cut on "Vol. 2" is U2's "Sunday Bloody Sunday," which first appeared on the Irish rock quartet's 1983 live album "Under a Blood Red Sky." Stevie Ray Vaughan's "Pride and Joy" was captured at the late guitarist's final Red Rocks appearance in 1988, while Coldplay's "Politik" was taped in June 2003 during the group's maiden performance at the venue. Net profits from the sale of the album will be donated to the Preserve the Rocks fund, dedicated to the ongoing rehabilitation of the Red Rocks site. Here is the track list for "Carved in Stone Vol. 2": "Sunday Bloody Sunday," U2 "Pride and Joy," Stevie Ray Vaughan "Politik," Coldplay "Break You Off," the Roots "Screaming John," Sonia Dada "Soulshine," Gov't Mule "A Sorta Fairytale," Tori Amos "Diamonds on the Inside," Ben Harper "Beer for My Horses," Willie Nelson "Pretty Persuasion," R.E.M. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 May 2004 18:52:11 -0400 (EDT) From: Richard Handal Subject: Re: What ever happened to Mr Caton? The canceled DVD project expected in late '99 would have included at least *something* like this with film taken at the church in Delgany during the making of Pele. So, this sort of footage exists. Who knows if anyone outside of a fly in Tori's archives will ever see it. Fantastic, huh?
