Fischer" Subject: scarlet's hidden treasures Now that the new songs on Scarlet's Hidden Treasures have been released I wanted to make a couple of observations about them. The first is that I immediately thought of Steve Caton when I listened to Apollo's Frock. I have not gone through the lyrics in great depth yet, but my thought was that Apollo's Frock may be referring to the music. The song (for me) talks about a person who keeps taking from you and enjoying the fruits of your labor (Caton's success was greatly due to his collaborations with Tori, her music) and crossing your boundaries. The line "you and your predators were warned if the cubs were drawn in for the last time you would officially cross my line" I thought about all of the rumors (I stress that they are only rumors) about Caton hooking up with girls at the shows (the girls being the cubs) and promising them access to Tori, etc. and how that upset Tori. As for the chorus of the song, it sounded to me like she was saying Caton could not see the beauty of the sounds he created, that he could only see Tori's beauty/talent, that he did not realize he was just as worthy a musician/person. Anyway, this is just purely speculation on my part and I would invite people to click on this link to read posts from people who know about the Greek mythology of Apollo and other mentions in this song. http://www.atforumz.com/showthread.php?t=233243 My second observation is a small one, and that is that I love "Seaside", i think it is a beautiful song. However, I think the studio version pales slightly in comparison to the version performed at Portland, ME on the last tour. There is an amzing moment at the end where after she sings "she was coming of age" you can hear her take a gasping breath. For some reason that breath breaks my heart every time I hear it. I hope more people share their thoughts on the new songs. That is one of the best parts about new releases for me :) ~~Alex ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V9 #60 ************************************
