In a frightening turn of events, I wrote a 1,786 word reply to your
post, Richard. For the sake of everyone's sanity, I'm not posting it.

You're welcome.

Here are some scattered thoughts on the show...

After the WPB concert someone who I *knew* had missed Orlando walked by
and said, "Good show," or something to that effect. Not wanting to
blurt out something like, "Orlando was the real last show and was much
better", I muttered something like, "Yeah, I liked it." Just then
someone else approached me and said, "Did you just say you liked it?"
to which I replied, if I remember correctly, "Muh?" When she said, "I
just heard those words come out of your mouth," I, for some reason,
couldn't even begin to explain why I had lied (or at least wildly
stripped down the truth) as I had.

I tell this tale to illustrate two points: 1) after a lifetime of
diligent practice, I've raised being stupid to an art form, and 2)
Orlando was the real last show and was much better.

Which isn't to say that there weren't great moments in WPB.

Looking over the setlist, I have these comments: Sugar was
wonderful as was Cooling and I'll be very happy if both make it to
the final edit. Virginia was lovely as always. It is officially a
good thing that she did Crucify for the DVD. I don't know what she
didn't like about the first Tombigbee, but it was fun to get it
twice (even if it "cost" another song). I think I'd want Jupiter or
Putting the Damage On as the last last song, and we got Jupiter so
all is well.

Note the conspicious lack of Tear.

Oh, and has this been discussed already? During Muhammad it struck
me that she probably dropped I Feel The Earth Move for the same
reason there were no other covers: rights. Am I wrong? Is that really
obvious? (Either my being wrong or the copyright issue; you choose.)

I had mixed blessings with my seat location. At first I was behind
the camera crane thing, which sucked. But then I was upgraded
because of that to what was essentially the first row, stage right.
That was an unexpected but very appreciated good thing. There was
nothing and no one in my line of sight to Tori. Then, just so the
blessing would be as mixed as possible, it turned out that the
section I was in had eager representatives from just about every
branch of the annoying audience tree: talking loudly, fighting over
seats, standing while everyone else is sitting, singing along loudly
and out of time and tune, leaving before the encores, screaming
assorted annoying things, etc. The only thing really missing was
a good vomit incident. At one point Joel had to come over and yell
at people. The venue security spent a fair amount of time managing
(or failing to manage, in my opinion) the situation too.

During Ben Folds' set, Jon and Matt came out and played on two
songs. Nice surprise.

But, even given the moments of good, I liked Orlando better and it
did have more of that "last show" flavor. Tori's voice was so
strong that night. Overall, a wonderful show. The only thing that
was a bit disappointing was the tepid PGY. Not sure what was going
on there. But I was happy to hear her nonetheless because I only
caught her twice this tour, the other time being the amazing version
in New Orleans.

Speaking of New Orleans, in my mind, I move that show forward through
time and plunk it down in the 124th spot, chronologically speaking, so
that it's the last show. I dunno. It works for me.

[Note to Mikewhy: Although this looks like a review somewhat, it's
not really a review, so please don't post it to the Dent. I'll
get something to you separately. Thanks.]
