It's Amos' first live recording, long overdue, and it works equally well as a greatest-hits collection. Crowd faves like "Cornflake Girl," "Waitress" and "Cooling" -- which has never before surfaced on an album -- make showstopping appearances. With To Venus and Back, Amos pays herself the ultimate compliment: She's good and complicated. (RS 823) " crackerjack touring band! i love that adjective. i'm amazed at how 1000 oceans gets overlooked as something considered too commercial. this song has real depth, and tori's voice shows subtle yet strong range throughout! it's incredibly sad. "if that's what it takes to sail you home." those are great, Odyssey-like lyrics. also, i can't get over the fantastic instrumentation used in Cruel, especially in the introduction of the song. Wooo, so much sound is happening. "Let the world know what you think, before the world lets you know what to think." Care About What You Consume?
