Yet, I hassled Woj quite a bit first cuz I couldn't find it on Scarlet's Web and I was freaking out. I didn't want to miss it like I did Tombigbee. The funny thing is that I already had a live version of Seaside from Portland, Maine 03/03/03. It's a beautiful live version and has a clear sound. There is an improv before the song. I'm not sure what Tori is singing though. Oh, I just checked the lyrics for Seaside at Hereinmyhead and it gives the improv lyrics. Thanks to Woj for helping me out so much. --Amanda ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 7 May 2003 02:44:02 EDT From: Torisparta@aol.com Subject: Tori's poem 'Renamed' I was wondering if anyone has the words for a Tori poem called 'Renamed'? At this point, @Forumz is a board that includes Tori Amos section among others. Of course, in reality it is mainly a bunch of Toriphiles who came there because it used to be part of The Dent. But since the Dent and atforumz split, there has been an effort to make Tori only part of that community and to broaden its user base beyond Tori fans. It is no longer strictly a Tori Amos community... In theory that is. At the moment though, it is certainly the biggest place where some Tori fans gather. I would love to see another board that is SOLELY for Tori fans become popular. Then again, I can not say I am objective in that matter... :) Michael L. The show has since been verified by Brambles, who tells me he has seen this show listed on some non-public Ticketmaster computers, as well as Kim Cote, who called FleetBoston Pavilion in Boston, MA and was told the concert is going to happen. Kim was told that tickets for the Boston show will go on sale Saturday, May 17, 2003 at 10:00AM though Ticketmaster. There is no mention of this show yet at www.fleetbostonpavilion.com, but I bet there will be soon. Many thanks to Heather Allen for first telling me about this. This was what became To Venus And Back, if I remember correctly. One disc was meant to be live tracks one B-Sides. She went into the studio to record extra tracks for the B-Sides disc, and it turned into a whole album of new songs. That's the exceedingly short version - for the full version I'm sure a good searching of The Dent will provide (or some of the wiser members on here will correct me!) As for the Greatest Hits. Contractual obligation circa about 2001 seems to require 2 new tracks for any Greatest Hits compilation which are, by universal law (up to now, Tori may be the exception) absolute rubbish, created by the artist specifically for the compilation, one of which must be released a single. The 2 extra tracks are purely to fleece those of us who already bought all the albums and singles. You never know, though, could be a limited edition with B-Sides bonus disc. We can but hope... there is of course the long-deleted Australian Under The Pink / More Pink tour edition. If you've got deep pockets, that is... What in the name of Joss Whedon are we doing having really deep thoughts about bandwidths and formats when we should be raving ourselves senseless about how beautiful, soothing, and scary the song manages to be all at once? So here's a few random bits from my brain (if anyone's interested!)- It feels to me like the first "post birth" song from Tori - maybe because I've just watched the ASF DVD interview where she talks about them playing on the beach, I'm hearing it from the "that could have been my baby" feeling that parents must get whenever children are the victims of war (and when aren't they?). I was worried that Tori might teeter into the My Little Pony Zone if things got too cutesy in the nursery, but I should have known better. Incidentally, do we know if it was written at the same time as the rest of the album, or more recently? "She was coming of age" leads me to the Bali nightclub bombing that killed so many young Australians (pre-SW release?) while "shells fired up, flowers mown down" veers over to Our more recent "daisy cutter" atrocities (in my head), though I'm hearing it as a fairly direct sequel to "I Cant See New York" in terms of it's perspective: Setting aside the maps and the flags and the anger and just focussing on the sadness of it all. Phew! Oh, and - WHEN CAN WE GET IT IN DECENT QUALITY!!! I CAN HEAR RADIO MOSCOW ON LONGWAVE IN BETTER QUALITY ON A CLEAR NIGHT!!!! It was shelved when new songs started pouring forth, and she ended up giving us 'To Venus and Back'. > Maybe she's planning for these new gems to be in the collection, so > she's not too bothered that they're not on singles. That is ... well, not impossible, but nearly so, given the switch in record labels. My fantasy is that the greatest-hits compilation will include that duet with Michael Stipe that she recorded a few lifetimes ago. It's unlikely, too, since neither Stipe nor Tori seems entirely certain of what happened to the masters.
