Not including Tori. And in no particular order. 1) Nine Inch Nails- The Fragile 2) Ani DiFranco- Little Plastic Castle (and all of her other albums LOL) 3) Nirvana- In Utero 4) Radiohead- Kid A 5) Tool- Aenima 6) Type O Negative- Bloody Kisses 7) At The Drive-In- In Casino/ Out 8) Smashing Pumpkins- Meloncholy and the Infinite Sadness (or Siamese Dream) 9) Pearl Jam- No Code (or Yield- I can't decide) 10) Modest Mouse- The Moon and Antartica Honorable Mentions: Deftones- White Pony Belly- Star The Ramones- Brain Drain Sigur Ros- ( ) Weezer- Weezer Tori Album Fav's (in order): Boys for Pele To the Choirgirl Hotel Scarlet's Walk Under the Pink Little Earthquakes To Venus and Back Strange Little Girls And the Tori album that gets less play is Strange Little Girls because my nephew played it so much that I got a little burned out on it, and because I can't get past the fact that Tori didn't compose or write the album, no matter how good it is. Although I have around 1200 CDs and desire many more, there are a certain few that I *always* take with me on long drives, which is when I tend to do most of my "deep" thinking and my all-out (albeit very off tune) singing along. So I started by listing those few, and then had to narrow down from fifteen. I don't think it's at all proper to leave Tori off a top ten list; those of you who are doing so are just sneaking another CD or few into your top ten list. ;>) These are in no particular order, except that the top three are always in my top three. I've often said that Peter is my mind, Blue Rodeo is my heart, and Tori is my soul. Little Earthquakes easily won the Tori selection for me because I listen to that album more regularly than any other -- it seems to grow with me such that the songs always pertain to something I am going through today, taking on new meanings for me on a regular basis. I've never experienced that with any other artist, or with any of Tori's other albums. 1. Tori Amos - Little Earthquakes 2. Blue Rodeo - Five Days in July 3. Peter Himmelman - Skin 4. Sarah McLachlan - Fumbling Towards Ecstasy 5. Propaganda - 1234 6. Bel Canto - Shimmering Warm & Bright 7. Ghost of an American Airman - Life Under Giants 8. Grace Pool - Grace Pool 9. The Lover Speaks - The Lover Speaks 10. River City People - Say Something Good Most neglected Tori CD: Strange Little Girls because, although I love Tori's covers, I prefer her own songs I'd like to add another question to this, if I may. I've enjoyed reading other people's top ten lists because I'm hearing of artists I've never heard of before. So my question is this: What ten or so artists (who are not in your top ten) do you really enjoy that you think lots of people don't know about (because, perhaps, you don't know anyone else who has heard of them except people you've introduced to their music yourself)? Mine would include: Over the Rhine October Project Johnny Clegg & Savuka (and any of Johnny Clegg's other bands) Indio In Tua Nua Hugh Harris The Devlins The Blessing Alphaville William Orbit Toxic Witch *** Put that in your cauldron and bubble it ... *** Don't play with fire ...
