On the Club Tour in early '98 Tori would prompt the audience to sing along with her on Icicle. I can't think of any other time when she regularly did that. She may have been doing it in early '98 because she was so nervous about touring with the under-rehearsed band and wanted to bond more with the audience but I'm just guessing. It was during the second encore in Salt Lake City and many people by the stage were dancing and singing along -- and loudly -- to Taxi Ride and it felt very joyous and celebratory. But that, of course, was a case of people acting appropriately within context, not one person doing something that bugs the people around them. That's pretty much the crux of the matter in my opinion: be considerate to your neighbors. It's not that hard. And if the context is right, almost nothing is out of bounds. I, for example, have been known to stage dive at Tori shows now and then. Especially during Twinkle... That song makes me freak out, man! But seriously, I'm ordinarily not that bothered by people singing as long as they're in tune and not too loud. If they're sitting near a taper though, that's a problem. - -- - - Brian Tanaka - - Thunder Wishes, Fire Thought: http://www.well.com/~btanaka/tori ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 13 Mar 2003 20:31:34 -0500 From: Cyndi S Crawford Subject: Re: Baker Baker Singers Singers hahah Brian, you silly man. :D I'd like to say I've gone stage-diving during Hey Jupiter, but I haven't been able to get front-row seats yet. lol.. SERIOUSLY tho.. you make good points. I personally am a girl who likes to belt out the words with Tori (while in the car, that is, as it keeps me from caving into the road rage pressure I'm faced with as I drive.. elsewhere I'm fairly quiet when listening to her music.), and at her concerts, except for a line or two of say, Take To The Sky, and most recently, the "I got Big Bird on the fishing line w/ a bit of a shout" etc lines of Talula at the Birmingham show, I *do* try to keep quiet. :D Sincerely, Cyndi S.
