Well, kind of... I had a look round the main record shops here in Leicester on my lunch break and found HMV, the largest, stocking just the 4 track disc (inc PC ROM track) filed as "A Kind Of Fairytale" at the gobsmacking price of UKP 5.49. Gah. Singles just don't cost that much ever [The standard full price for a single a record label ISN'T pushing is 3.99. If they think the single needs a push up the charts they'll discount it to 2.99, 2.49, or, quite rarely now, 1.99 in the first week of release]. 5.49? That's half an album! The independent shop wasn't stocking it at all, so once I'd put my jaw back in I headed over to the Virgin Megastore and bought what seemed to be their only copy for the more sensible Earth Price of 2.99. Maybe it was just a mix up at the Leicester HMV, but 5.49 with no CD2, no Cassette, and the wrong name on file if anyone tries to order it? Come back Atlan.... ah, no on the other hand, at least there IS a single :-) And the 101 mix is beautiful. All those different levels lapping in and out (is that a bit of harmonium added in there around the bridge?). Can't wait to see her on Graham Norton next week - he usually loves to surprise guests by showing them how weird and obsessive their fans websites are. Tori's better.. New Age for example.. I dunno.. I don't much like the original version.. (I mean, heck, a song that doesn't have "oh, you little SICK little FUCKS!" in it.. borrrring!) o_O and Eminem's version of 97 Bonnie and Clyde.. nuh uh. I never did like that song.. lol.. her version.. LOTS BETTER. *shakes head*... listening to the original songs, so far, makes me appreciate the SLG album.. and I'm only on Eminem right now *skip!* make that.. the Stranglers. him going "your da da looooves you" makes me crack up so hard. and then once I get past that, I can't stand to listen to the song. anyway.. Strange Little Girl.. original version.. Tori's version is still better, but I could get to liking this one. :) as for Enjoy The Silence.. o_O nuh uh. *skip* I'm Not In Love sounds promising already.. yep, it's good.. but I like Tori's better definitely. :D *skip* NEXT! Rattlesnakes.. *shakes head* hmmmmm... nope. not at all. *skip* Time.. nuh uh. Heart Of Gold.. not bad. I'll hang onto this one too.. lol.. man alive.. I Don't Like Mondays.. good, but Tori really makes it sound more serious than the Boomtown Rats did, strangely. Happiness Is A Warm Gun.. I love the Beatles so this might be the exception.. we'll see.. hmmmm.. I'll say this one's neck and neck. I love Tori's instrumentation much better.. actually.. the Beatles rock, but Tori's version is definitely better. It could probably grow on me though. Raining Blood.. no thank you. I'll take Tori's version over this version, whoopee! I can't get Real Men downloaded, so thaaaaaat will have to wait.. however I'm sure I'd be sitting here listening to it and saying "hmm, nope. Tori's version is better." so.. *shrug* moot point I guess.. lol.. anyway, just thought I'd share my observations with the rest of the EWF here.. :D feel free to disagree with me if you wanna.. it'll spark a discussion..
