Many of you did really, really well :-) Based on my own ticket experiences this year (so far), tix appearing on eBay the same days as the presales and what others have reported it seems that the pre-sales, so far, have been similar to last year. Melbourne certainly did not go smoothly for instance. Brokers were definitely in there with you during pre-sales, vying for seats using the password set up for us. Maybe a more difficult password should be used in the future. From what info I have gathered some venues did not offer tix in the more traditional form of first come/best seats but rather put them up for grabs in lots, or sections, that moved about the venue. For instance: Orchestra rows Q, R & S & Grand Tier rows AA-DD in hour 1 & 2, then hours later Orchestra rows D, E & F & T, U & V. No idea why. The ticket buying experience for the church in New York is going to be crazy. Continued luck to everyone. I am going to holiday from tomorrow, Monday to October 14. No computer. No email. No eBay. So odd. What's with the Riverside Church crap? There's room for maybe 10 people who'll get tickets the ol' fashioned way and the other 90 who have connections, or something. What gives? Grr. Very unhappy about this. - -Lauren ~~~Voice and piano~~ ~~~12 songs~~ ~~~one take each~~ Check out Regina Spektor and her new CD "Songs" at Regina Spektor: SONGS ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 29 Sep 2002 18:02:11 -0400 (EDT) From: Richard Handal Subject: Re: nyc riverside church show Lauren said: > Can someone please explain to me why Tori is playing NYC in a venue the > size of a walk-in closet? I hope to get the lowdown before much longer. My Epic friend had told me she thought there was to be a Madison Square Garden concert plus a possible concert at the Apollo. She was certain there would definitely be a real venue in NYC. I asked her about a rumor that Tori wants to videotape a church performance in NYC for release as a live concert on DVD, and my friend said "What she wants and what the record company wants aren't necessarily the same thing." All I can say is she will surely come back through NYC after the holidays. Bob Dylan's booked into MSG on November 13 and there's a hockey game there on the 14th so there's no way she could play MSG either of the days she's gonna be in NYC mid-November. [BTW, I could find ZERO *CURRENT* references online for the *Theatre* at MSG. Has something happened to it? Did they change the name of the T@MSG again or something? It was 6,000 seats and lovely.] > There's room for maybe 10 people who'll get tickets the ol' fashioned > way and the other 90 who have connections, or something. 1,900 seats, but your point is well taken. I do strongly suspect many will go to industry types, yeah. Following the rumor to its natural conclusion, why Tori would want to play a concert before *industry* *types* for DVD video release is also beyond me. As idiotic as this feels to me, it's so stupid, even for the music business, that I continue to hold hopes that there's something we don't know about yet in this equation. I know I'm gonna feel pretty nuts if I'm in NYC that day for Conan anyhow and can't get in there. Seating: I was thinking about Bjvrk's performance there last year for an HBO Reverb taping when she only sold 100 tickets for it. I was assuming Tori would probably be doing something similar, and even at full capacity it's not large enough to accomodate a reasonable amount of people for a Tori concert. But I won't repeat myself. Thanks for the informative e-mail. Guess I'll hold out for her concert later in the tour. - -L ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 29 Sep 2002 18:59:35 -0400 (EDT) From: Richard Handal Subject: Re: nyc riverside church show Lauren said: > Seating: I was thinking about Bjork's performance there last year for an > HBO Reverb taping when she only sold 100 tickets for it. There are multiple venues there. I never dared consider T would play the theater. http://www.theriversidechurchny.org/content.asp?id=323 That's the theater, where I imagine Bjork must have performed. Here's general rental info where they say the main worship space holds 1,900: http://www.theriversidechurchny.org/content.asp?id=607 There are also some reception rooms, what not, for between 250 and 500 people. You're full of good thoughts and cheer, huh, Lauren?! ;-) Be seeing you, Richard Handal, H.G. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 29 Sep 2002 20:09:22 -0400 From: guapo stick Subject: san francisco show on clear channel no sale date yet, but nice to see that it's up there! ;) Tori Amos With Special Guests Howie Day Bill Graham Civic Auditorium San Francisco, CA December 21, 2002 - 7:30PM Pacific Doors open 6:30PM Coming soon Reserved : $ 29.50 Reserved : $ 39.50 ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V7 #226 *************************************
