However, HFS has changed a bit, it has become harder alternative rock, and I'm not sure they would even play her music anymore. I think she should go on love line. It would be nice. She was great in MTV2, and made the host look sort of unintellegent. Maybe it was the writers' fault. e >===== Original Message From guapo stick ===== >when we last left our heroes, Richard Handal exclaimed: > >>Le Baton De Guapo intoned: >> >> > is it just me or does anyone else think it rather strange that tori did >> > not do any radio appearances in either new york or boston when she did >> > the industry showcases is those cities? >> >>(You left out D.C. last Tuesday and Atlanta last Wednesday.) > >well, that's even more odd since tori has an established rapport with the >whfs crew and a longer history of appearances on wnnx. > >>Hang on for a second round of promotion with much more radio, and some >>national TV dates out of NYC--perhaps even a surprising TV interview >>treat. > >wheee! but will we have any idea any of it is happening before it happens? >we need some back-channel flow to epic so they know it's important to >advertise when these things are going to happen. it's one thing for the >late night talk show appearances, but it's another for the radio stuff. > >woj ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 05 Sep 2002 17:13:15 -0700 From: guapo stick Subject: Re: radio appearances when we last left our heroes, Richard Handal exclaimed: >Le Baton De Guapo intoned: > > > is it just me or does anyone else think it rather strange that tori did > > not do any radio appearances in either new york or boston when she did > > the industry showcases is those cities? > >(You left out D.C. last Tuesday and Atlanta last Wednesday.) well, that's even more odd since tori has an established rapport with the whfs crew and a longer history of appearances on wnnx. >Hang on for a second round of promotion with much more radio, and some >national TV dates out of NYC--perhaps even a surprising TV interview >treat. wheee! but will we have any idea any of it is happening before it happens? we need some back-channel flow to epic so they know it's important to advertise when these things are going to happen. it's one thing for the late night talk show appearances, but it's another for the radio stuff. woj ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 06 Sep 2002 00:08:18 -0700 From: Nadyne Mielke (by way of guapo stick ) Subject: DigiTori mailing list Those of y'all who have been watching the Dent know that rumours about tour dates are starting to filter in. There will be an effort to make sure that we get all of Tori's tour taped again this year. Keith organised it last year. We're going to try to make sure that Keith doesn't end up saddled with -all- of the work ('cause it is a -lot- of work, and he ended up buying concert tickets for some DAT-heads to make sure that US shows were covered). To help in this, I'd like to point folks towards the DigiTori mailing list. DigiTori is only for tapers, and is not for any sort of discussion of trading. Subscriptions are moderated, posting is not. To subscribe, go to . Note that if I don't know that you are a taper, I will email you to ask what your taping setup is. You can save both of us some time by emailing me with your taping setup immediately. :) Acceptable topics of discussion include (but are not limited to): * taping equipment * taping hints, tips, and tricks * security at particular venues * converting recordings to CD-R Unacceptable topics of discussion include (but are not limited to): * grovelling for a show * requests for trades * requests for artwork Please feel free to pass this along to other Tori or taping forums. It is not her most accesible album, is full of twists and turns, is based on a mythological structure, the imaginery is very compelling. Most of EWF will love it, but I am still amaze how thhis album called random listerners attention, while not being her most commercial one. Perhaps the answer is that is was unlikely anything played t the time of release to date :) I wonder how many millions has Tori sell worldswide? I once heard that she has platinum certifications for al of her albums up to SLG, which is Gold in the US, and that she has Triple Platinum certifications for all of her albums on a worldwide basis? Anyone can help? See ya :) Daniel - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Marla Tiara" To: Sent: Thursday, September 05, 2002 6:38 PM Subject: Tori in the October issue of Blender > On page 27 of the October issue of Blender magazine, > they have a list of "all the season's big releases." > Here's what they say about Tori: > > October 15 [wrong date, but it was likely changed > after press time] > Tori Amos > Scarlet's Walk (Epic) > Amos's Boys for Pele (1996) sold a million; last > year's Strange Little Girls just 358,000. They did both the Spider-Man and the XXX movies and both were heavily advertised and had fairly high attendance. Spider-Man is already up to #7 on the all time sales list with over $400 million, so far. They also do many of those pop acts that you'd prefer not to hear about so much. Epic is slightly smarter with their spending but they've supported passe acts also just like the Mariah Carey mess that Sony had to deal with fixing. Sony is also the company that got ripped off by agreeing to the Michael Jackson lifetime contract. Fools! All their really bad deals have been by Sony themselves and not Epic or Columbia (mostly Cinematic these days) which actually make Sony money. ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V7 #204 *************************************
