Fischer" Subject: free CD artwork CDs up for grabs Hi. I have five giveaway CDs left over from tonight's Tori Meetup. The CD contains the CD artwork for all 272 shows available (as of last Sunday) on the Tori Amos Scans Archive website (http://toriscans.inmyhead.net/). The first five folks who, off-list, email me their postal addresses will have one of these CDs magically appear in their mailbox in the near future. If you're one of the five, you'll get an email from me letting you know. Otherwise, you weren't quick enough! ;-) - -- - -- -bt - -- ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Jul 2002 11:53:38 -0400 (EDT) From: "erinita@excite.com" Subject: Where can I hear the new songs? I seem to be the last person in the Tori community who has not yet heard these songs. I just spent the last hour and a half trying my damndest and I am near tears. It's important to me to hear these new songs, and I respect those who wish to wait. I've tried wading through @forums, I've signed (a rigorous process indeed!) up for the yahoo link woj sent out and those mp3's don't work, along with the iMac link, that didn't work. Is there anyone out there that can give me a no nonsense link? I am dying here. Please email me privately if you fear repercussions. Have a heart. Thanks,Erin - ------------------------------------------------ Join Excite! - http://www.excite.com The most personalized portal on the Web! ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Jul 2002 10:35:26 -0700 From: I Love Sluts Subject: A link to all your scarlet's mp3's I just uploaded Sorta Fairytale, Gold Dust, Pancake, Taxi Ride, Amber Waves and Crazy to my site. Here's the address. Please DL one at a time, as I think many people will use this link to DL, and it's just considerate to DL one at a time. Thanks and stuff. To my surprise, I'm listening to "A Sort of Fairytale" on the radio right now!!! No special intro. KROQ played one of their regular playlist songs (Puddle of Blink or some such song) and then went right into Tori!! Heh, the DJ just came on and introduced the song. He said that should make all the Tori fans happy. He also added that he didn't think that they (meaning KROQ) were going to play Tori anymore. Wonder what he meant by that. Perhaps it's because they didn't play anything off of "Strange Little Girls". - ---------- - -- - -- -bt - -- ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Jul 2002 16:49:45 -0700 (PDT) From: Mariana Furtado Subject: ASF on L.A. radio Hey guys, Well, I am hearing the end of A Sorta Fairytale on the radio as I type this. The station, Los Angeles' KROQ 106.7, played the song this morning at around 11 a.m. They apparently did this without any prodding from fans. Then, after a bunch of people heard it this morning and called in to request it they played it again at 4:25 p.m. As the song ended the DJ said: "Aaaaah, that should make the Tori fans happy. Wasn't that lovely? I'm so glad Tori's back, for awhile it looked like we weren't going to be playing her anymore, but that was a new song called Sorta Fairytale." I don't know what he meant by the "it looked like we weren't going to play her" comment. Maybe it had something to do with Atlantic and the SLG single last year. Umm, if Epic is sending promos or samplers or whatever it is to radio stations then surely they must expect that they will get played. No? I think this is all part of the plan. If they play the song to death for months and months then by the time the album comes out even non-fans will be interested in what else she's got. Maybe. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Jul 2002 21:52:33 -0700 From: guapo stick Subject: Re: ASF on L.A. radio when we last left our heroes, Mariana Furtado exclaimed: >"Aaaaah, that should make the Tori fans happy. Maybe it had >something to do with Atlantic and the SLG single last >year. most likely. there word on the street is that kroq jumped the gun on this. they played the radio edit of "a sorta fairytale" earlier this morning, most likely from the mp3, though that's not known for sure. they got a lot of good feedback from listeners (and torifen from the net) so they played it again in the afternoon. apparently, they have been asked by epic to not play the song anymore until the promo single is actually sent to radio. epic and kroq compromised so it will be played one more time tomorrow. >Umm, if Epic is sending promos or samplers or whatever >it is to radio stations then surely they must expect >that they will get played. No? yes, but it seems that the sampler was not sent to radio, only to press. near as anyone can tell, kroq's source was the mp3 since they played the radio edit, not the full version of the song. woj ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Jul 2002 19:01:47 -0700 (PDT) From: "K. Fischer" Subject: [SW SPOILER] Spoiler!!! (new album) For those of you who don't want to know any details about the new album, please don't read this :) I am so excited to see that Tori is finally releasing (I think) the "Just Another Dead Fag" song she mentioned writing years ago! Of course, it is now titled "Taxi Ride", and who knows how much of the original lyrics/ music she kept. Personally, I love the song already, and despite the fact that it seems to float along with a nice beat to it, I feel my heart is a bit crushed every time I listen to it. Obviously I have my own personal associations with it now. I don't know who inspired this song first for Tori, but I have to wonder if Kevyn Aucoin's death had anything to do with Tori finally deciding to share it with us. Maybe it is a her way of saying that Kevyn was more than "some gay guy who played with makeup", he was someone who touched people's hearts and perceptions of themselves deeply when they got a chance to work with him. To those who knew him he was a great place to "stop at" on this "taxi ride" we all are on. Now I am curious to hear other people's views on this song!
