A while back I heard that on Strange little girls, Tori tried to cover songs not covered by women before. I just heard "I'm not in Love" on the radio, sung by chrissie hynde (The Pretenders' singer) And I also have heard a Lita Ford's version of Only Woman Bleed. (I'm an alice cooper 70's- 80's music fan) I was wondering if you've heard covers of the other songs from the Strange Little Girl era, sung by other women. besos, laura-guay ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 May 2002 06:58:11 EDT From: Mermann658@aol.com Subject: Re: precious-things-digest V7 #115 And I forgot to put the dern link to the "Vasalisa" story in here.... Hello all, Well, The Breeders did a cover of 'Happiness is A Warm Gun' on their Pod album(I think it's pretty cool). I don't know about any of the others though. I am DYING to hear what she does next. Her voice makes me wicked jealous and gloriously happy all at the same time. He's also just finished working on a new cd with Tori Amos who I also happen to love and adore. Afterall....she's a fellow red head ain't she? from neil gaiman's may 29th journal entry < http://www.neilgaiman.com/journal/journal.asp >; one presumes he is off to visit tori: Wednesday, May 29, 2002 [...] Am off to Florida for a couple of days to see a friend and listen to some new music. woj ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 May 2002 20:15:34 +0000 From: "Emma Lorelei" Subject: cloud on my tongue's meaning Tori states that "cloud on my tongue" is about a man who was interested in her and came to where she was staying/living. he wanted to take her to borneo but she was already with a different man. he knocks at her kitchen door and asks her to go to borneo, but her man is living there also. "leave me with your borneo i don't need much to keep me warm you're already in there i'll be wearing your tatoo" she tells him to leave the wood outside and just go, so she can get the warmth later on without having to be with him. even though all the girls (all her selves) are freezing cold, she wants to remain true to the man she is already with. but that is the trick. she steals his warmth but never lets him in through her "kitchen door" get it? - -emma ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 29 May 2002 18:55:25 -0500 From: "mr zebra" Subject: Re: strange little girl covers. How very cool! That's a reasonable interpret for some lines that always eluded me. "Borneo:" well, Borneo is this warm tropical place. Also, it's the home of the "wild man from Borneo" referred to in old stories and scientific works. It's wild and uncivilized, in a good way. So, I think that when Tori says "leave me with your Borneo," she wants not only warmth, but a little wildness, a little daring energy. I think Tori's even said something to that effect, but I couldn't tell you the source. toodles, Tom "All the carnage of my journeys makes it harder to be livin' He said, 'It's a long road to be forgiven."
