I bought this fab boot at a going out of business sale. It's called Phoenix. It's two discs, the first disc and a half being a concert at the Phoenix in Toronto on 4/28/98. So, I listened to parts of it in the store (fantastic sound quality) and bought it at a wicked discount ($12!!). I get it home and disc one craps out in the middle. It has these awful cracking noises from track 6 to the end. I would like to know if anyone has a good copy of this boot and would be willing to burn the first disc for me. I'll send you a blank disc and the return postage. I really, really want this boot. It's an awesome set list on disc one. Thanks in advance. blue skies and fair winds for y'all, Tom "All the carnage of my journeys makes it harder to be livin' He said, 'It's a long road to be forgiven." I was just waiting for an email from here to appear in my mail before saying anything. Any advice for a newbie Toriphile like myself? Are there any from Peachtree City, or Atlanta, GA? (I'm in that area, too.) I've been a fan since mid/late February of this year, so I'm eager for some interaction with other fans like myself. :) Sincerely, Cyndi S. Do. Not. Describe. Myself." ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 19 Apr 2002 20:44:46 -0400 From: Cyndi S Crawford Subject: Re: newbie from Peachtree City, Georgia, USA WAHOO!! somebody replied! Thanks Richard! >Rarely is one actually solicited for advice. Here is mine to you: Start saving your money and days off for the next tour (which should be late this summer) and plan to go to as many concerts on the tour as you can.< Hmmmmm.. I was planning to go to ONE.. how much do Tori's concerts usually cost anyway? >That's my advice. Related advice is to see shows on the tour that are later in it than your Atlanta location will likely place you, because the shows overall improve and become increasingly amazing as she continues the tour.< I bet that's because every show is different--right? >I can't imagine becoming interested in the music at this stage, so it fascinates me to hear when someone has experienced that. I'd be curious to hear what music first grabbed you and how you may have gone back for earlier albums, what not.< Okay I'll break it down to ya like this--I go to school at the art institute in Atlanta.. last quarter (my first quarter), on a Friday, I know it was a Friday cuz I had like four hours in between classes to kill.. I was down in the cafeteria place, eating a corndog, and then all of a sudden, this *haunting* music comes up.. I look up, and I see "Tori Amos. Hey Jupiter".. so I'm rather captivated by the music in this video.. so I scribble the name of the song down so I can download it when I get home. I get home.. and, long story short, figure out that the version I heard on TV was the Dakota version. Let's just say, sound travels in my house rather well and my family was *BEGGING* me to stop playing it over and over. This may sound evil of me as a Toriphile, but because I had to hear her music RIGHT THEN.. I looked at CDNow at the tracklisting and downloaded 'em.. for a preview, basically. Once I have money (hey, I'm a college student--I'm BROKE! My mom said she'll pay for the Tori concert once she comes down for my bday so that's something else..) I *SWEAR* I'm gonna buy her albums.. I SWEAR IT!! I already feel terrible about the idea that I'm ripping poor Tori off right now, but I plan to remedy that situation when I get $$$$ to spend. It has been a very VERY mind-bending experience for me, becoming a fan.. part of it is the fact that I knew somebody who damn near RUINED her for me about two years ago *grumble* I won't even go there right now.. so I had to get over that association (he was a fan of her, but I don't think it was for the music *AT ALL*..).. and that took me about a month to do. >Further advice is to get some live concert boots and to check The Dent regularly for news: .< Where might I get some bootlegs? should I search for 'em to download? What do you suggest? >This is silly because I'm far too busy for writing much, but if you're of a mind to relate some of your experiences I'm sure that would shed new light on what for me is an old subject.< I'm more than willing to do that. DEFINITELY.. but I dunno where to start.. lol.. golly I feel like I'm 13 years old again! (I'm 20 now by the way.) >Were you at the Fox show last year, BTW?< *NO* I wasn't!! I wasn't a fan yet then. I saw the Hey Jupiter video at school in February.. it was somewhere in the third week or so of Feb.. but.. IT BURNS ME UP NOW to know she was at the Fox cuz.. October 2nd.. that was the day, as I found out, that she performed there.. *AND SHE HAD PERFORMED ON MY FREAKING BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!* crazy, huh? Well, if there are any specific questions you'd like to ask me as far as my fandom goes or otherwise.. ask away! I'm already loving this.. I'm finally interacting with other Toriphiles. It had been difficult for me before now because I just couldn't seem to find any places to be able to meet up with other fans and chat with them about it.. but.. back in 1995, I became a huge fan of Michael Jackson (like I am now of Tori, yippee!), searched for a fan club.. and within a week of becoming a fan of him.. I FOUND ONE.. get my drift? okay.. I'm done rambling now. :) Sincerely, Cyndi S.
