Usually, nowadays on greatest hits albums, they place more lke 15 songs on the album. The Cure got 16 tracks, and then two new ones on their album. And, they had a limited edition bonus disc that had acoustic versions of the 18 hits. Then let's not forget all their earlier "singles" albums, such as Staring at the Sea (17 tracks), Standing on the Beach (25 tracks, but many overlap with Staring at the Sea) and Galore (18 tracks). Smashing Pumpkins got 2 CDs, 18 tracks on one, and 16 tracks on the other. So, Tori has a ton of albums now, and each album had at least 4 singles (with the exception of Strange Little Girls...grr!). I'm just going to name the ones I think most likely will be on there, according to if they were relased as a single, how they seemed to be received by the general public, and if there was a video made for them (which doesn't always have an effect, but can). I am going to make a guess at 16 tracks. Then again, 18 tracks...what the hell... :) 1. Crucify 2. Silent All These Years 3. Winter 4. Me and a Gun 5. China (ick!) 6. Pretty Good Year 7. God 8. Past the Mission 9. Cornflake Girl 10. Caught a Lite Sneeze 11. Hey Jupiter (dakota mix) 12. Talula (tornado mix) 13. In the Springtime of His Voodoo 14. Spark 15. Raspberry Swirl 16. Jackie's Strength 17. Bliss 18. 1000 Oceans 19. Glory of the 80's 20. Concertina Ok, so I listed 20. It's too damn hard! And I didn't even put Cruel on there! If any of the tracks are going to go, it'll prolly be Winter, In the Springtime of His Voodoo, but maybe even Spark or somthing... As much as I love all those songs. Anyway, I'm hoping for a bonus disc. Studio b-sides would be awesome. :D 1. Upside Down 2. A Case of You 3. Sister Janet 4. Smells Like Teen Spirit 5. Butterfly 6. Black Swan 7. Over the Rainbow 8. Sugar 9. Honey 10. Famous Blue Raincoat 11. Never Seen Blue 12. Professional Widow (one of the remixes) 13. Take to the Sky 14. Sweet Dreams 15. Cooling 16. Purple People And there's always the possibility that they'll put something unreleased on it!!! Wouldn't that just be wacked and way cool? It was a "vanity" label, owned by Atlantic. I think most artists who get a good amount of creative freedom from their label are not interested in the hassle of running their own label. They are in music for the creative aspects, and many of them [I'm specifically thinking of a quote I read on this subject from Thom Yorke of Radiohead] feel that handling their own distribution, etc, would just be a giant pain in the ass and take too much time away from doing what they love...writing and performing new music. Especially if they can be signed to a label that pretty much lets them do their own thing. I would be willing to bet Tori feels similar to Thom on this...Radiohead and Tori seem to have similar amounts of artistic freedom and secure fanbase going for them. I am going to hazard a guess that having your own label would be a very draining and stressful endeavour....and that Tori is probably happy [for now at least] to do what she does best and leave the hard core business end of things to others. ~julie ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V6 #234 *************************************
