Sorry if this is old news, but I've only just found out. I've just checked and I could have happily bought some for London. Get in there, people ! RTA ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Oct 2001 12:40:24 +0000 From: RTA Subject: While I think about it .... Hi again, While I think about it, a while ago somebody posted about Tori wearing headphones on stage and wondered why. I thought somebody would reply but nobody ever did, so I'm going to. They're MONITORS. You can't thunder a wedge up at a miked-up old wooden Harpsichord or all hell will break loose. But, perhaps it was the threat of mutilation that especially left a mark on her, you know? I was raped a long time ago, and left with a knife mark on my chest. Every morning when I dress, and evening when I undress, I have a scar that serves as a reminder. If only that wasn't there, it would make a daily ritual a little less frightening, and I wouldn't have the reminder. Sometimes I think to myself, "Fuck, if that just wasn't there, I'd be ok." And if I ever get close to a guy, and he sees the mark, I have to explain why it's there every time. Or, if I'm sleeping over at a friend's house and we undress in the same room...if they see it, same question "How'd that get there?" The mutilation, though it was so small, was the worst part... Tori Amos' "Strange Little Girls" came out just a few weeks ago, but the distinctive singer-songwriter is close to leaving Atlantic Records, which released that album and all her previous work, for a new deal. With her Atlantic contract expiring with "Girls," she is near an agreement with Epic Records. "We're getting close, but the [new] contract is not finished," says Amos' manager, Arthur Spivak. "Nothing is etched in stone." That would seem to set up a tense situation with Atlantic, which is still charged with promoting "Strange Little Girls," a strange little album in which Amos has created a series of characters to reinvent male-oriented songs from female perspectives. But Spivak says that everything is going smoothly. "Atlantic is working this album no differently, and there are still thoughts that she could return to the label," he says. "The album's doing well. Atlantic's done a great job of marketing her and there's still a long way to go with this record." Amos is touring in support of the album (she'll play the Wiltern Theatre Nov. 15-17) and tentatively plans to release an album of original songs sometime next year. I want best for Tori and went someone name EPIC, Cyndi Lauper4s Career comes to my mind. They awfully let her on her own to promote albums that were difficult ones and thrased her career. I do not want that to happen with Tori. I just want best for her!, but then anyway Records companys always at one point get Nasty (remember Tori and BFP era). I am just saying that Epic, does not publish in every country and Latin America and some European countries might suffer. That is all !, But the good news is that Tori is such a major artist that she is being required by a new reecord company, while still promoting an album for other!, How great can that be ! :) Daniel "May the Faeries Guide U"-Tori Amos ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 28 Oct 2001 22:26:43 EST From: Dracovixen@aol.com Subject: YAY! possible new album next year!!!!!! The m/g was great and I got some really good pics, even though I wasn't in the very first row. I would love to share the pics with anyone that wants them, I do not have a scanner but they are developed, so let me know if you want or if you can help me share with others. I was the last person at the m/g to get my item signed so I felt very lucky. I was on the fifth row in the pit and T was beautiful and the set list was probably the best I could imagine. I did NOT write it down, so could someone email me with the list or at the very least, let me know where I can find the complete list. I have to say "Hi" to Mike.....it was my first time to meet him...and also to the two blonde twins that I had a pic taken with in line at the m/g. I have a great pic of us, so if it was you...please email me and I will send... thanks for sharing the pizza. Again....it was the most INTENSE show I have ever seen....Tori or otherwise. If anyone is considering whether or not to go......GO!!!!!!!!! I was in tears during Me and A Gun and then....in the final encore...she did Have Yourself A Merry Little Xmas and there was not a dry eye in the place. Unreal....better than drugs......
