I was fortunately able to go the West Palm Beach show and I called the box office at the Kravis Centre to find out if binoculars would be allowed in and they said that they would. I wanted to double check so I called them back a bit later and they told me to call Ticketmaster because Ticketmaster made the security rules for the show with regards to what was allowed in, and what was not. The guy that I spoke to at Ticketmaster said that it would be fine. This may apply to all the shows sold through ticketmaster for this tour, but I am not sure. Myst suggested to bring the binoculars, and seriously, if you don't have any, try and borrow a pair, it's like she is sitting right in front of you. I wish you well, bee ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 30 Sep 2001 11:08:39 EDT From: Ange816@aol.com Subject: Re: Binoculars & Strange Little Tour ~ So far at the first two shows, I haven't seen anyone with binoculars, but I don't think that they won't allow them in. When I looked at the sign on the door, all it said was "No Cameras, Video, or Audio", and of course the cell phone thing, you have to have it turned off. So I'm pretty sure you're allowed them if you want. *Angela* ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 30 Sep 2001 12:24:19 -0400 (EDT) From: Richard Handal Subject: Early tour impressions Hi, All: As predicted, this tour is NOT Dew Drop Inn revisited, this is a shiny new creature with a delightfully relaxed and centered Tori. She's quickly getting her sea legs and I'm anticipating increasing transcendentalism as the tour progresses. Darn near every song has a new arrangement; and my, she *does* like to straddle that bench and play the Rhodes and the Boesey at the same time. Jupiter on this combination is wonderfully cool and smokey. A top centerpiece at these shows is the previously rare Sweet Dreams, which we can expect to hear a lot of, as Tori's put in much effort to the arrangement, and Dan's created special effects with the lighting. (BTW, the lighting design is THE BEST, most artistically and creatively designed of any tour. Tasteful and low key. And Simon was considered such a hotshot.) When she does Gun she sits on the bench with one white light from stage right casting her profile shadow onto the stage left wall of the house, with subtle wisps of smoke slowly wafting in from the wings. Appropriately austere. Although so far I've pretty much had my eyes glued to the binoculars and focused tight on herself, I can testify that the lighting is beautiful. The first night had little variation in tempi from one song to the next, but she had a lot more variance going on night two, and I would look for a good ride from this point on. Frankly, even without the ride there's her voice, which is featured in new arrangements designed to give more opportunities for vocal soaring of the kind that'll set off chills down one's spine. Oh--and there's her; *lots* of her at these shows. She seems to be playing the Wurlitzer maybe two songs each night, and between the sound of it, plus the sound of the Rhodes and her left hand on the Boesey, it makes for a lush, intimate atmosphere. She's gone from rhythm being the guiding force to its being a supporting cast member. The songs and simply their presentation are the main things going on now, and the expressiveness of the music coming directly from her has taken center stage. That's all I can write now. Just a few impressions is all I'm up to. If you go to any shows plan to sit down, relax, and have a good time. Be seeing you, Richard Handal, H.G. ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 30 Sep 2001 13:25:28 EDT From: Boy4Pele79@aol.com Subject: oakland show hey everyone, i could not get any seats for the sunday oakland show, does anyone have extras they would be willing to sell me? 1 or 2 or more? please let me know, i want to go to both shows but at least my seats for monday are excellent. kevin ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 30 Sep 2001 16:14:20 -0300 From: "Carlos Verrastro" Subject: My thoughts on SLGs. Hi Ewfs!!!! Well I finally got my hands over SLG, yesterday I travelled to another State within Argentina to see if I could get the album.... but first let me tell you something, I have been sort of sad the last month. I sort of I do not like the career that I am studying, I have failed at some mid terms exams, all my "friends" turned out to be real FAKES, I am feeling really lonely at times. Plus I lived at a very small and boring city. On one of hours subjects at college, they adviced us to watch some kind of dramas and series to analize human relationships and feelings. A couple of months ago I picked Queer as Folk, to that purpose. I thought that while it described with some kind of accurasy human feelings of detachment and loneliness, I also thought that it had excesive gratuite sex scenes, and it it was at points full of campy concepts and cliche ideas of what a gay man is.On Friday night I watched the latest episode shown in Argentina (the one in wich Ted meets again with Blake, the guy that by drugging him left him in coma. In Argentina the season hasn4t finished yet) I have never felt moved by the serie, call me rather cold hearted, I am not moved by many things. But when I saw this guy destroying himself, and then thanking Ted and making dinner for him.And then when Blake buys a copule of opera cds for Ted, and Ted thinks that Blake has bought then with money stolen from him and kick him of his house, and he is all wrong. I was reduced to pieces. :( On saturday my Dad, Mon and I ; went to visit some relatives on other state, and to killed 2 birds with one stone I went to several record shops to see if I could get SLG. No I could not but I got an X-tra copy of BFP and the Twister soundtrack with Talula (BTs Tornado mix), so I was kinda happy anyway. When we arrived one on the afternoon, I just passed by my local record store, and the owner said to me : "Daniel, your Tori album has arrived at last!". I was blown, as I was geting to the idea that I would never get to heard it. Tired by the 6 hours travelling by car, I went to my bedroom and carefully, while organizing my new cds, the ones I travelled with, and some that were not organized. I got the SLG cover, I loved the booklet Gorgeous, and VERY tasty and innovative. Here is my humble and poor opinion on the album tracks NEW AGE: it makes me think of CHOIRGIRL, it is very rhythmic, and Tori dry vocals match the harsh drum beats making a perfect marriage. 97 BONNIE & CLYDE: It is XTREMELY disturbing and poignant, it almost made me cry, that death mother saying to her daughter not to worry that she will be ok. I think that the track will open Eminens fans to the brutality of this subject, no one will listen to this track again after Toris version, Beatiful, haunting, and xtremely sad and disturbing at the same time. STRANGER LITTLE GIRL: It is a total catchy song, I love the distan drums intro. Then you got the siren-like vocals and then the catchy choruses STRANGE LITTLE GIRL WHERE ARE YOU GOING, STRANGE LITTLE GIRL WHERE ARE YOU GOING... Living in a small town, I can really related to the subject. ENJOY THE SILENCE: I think is wonderful, it reminds me of the UTP tracks. Bvsendorfer, vocals and bass. Simple, straight to the point, and emotive. I AM NOT IN LOVE: it reminds me of me when I act like I don4t care for anything or anyone. The girl in this song has a heart of stone, and the icy vocals match perfectly the techno background. Great, and honest. I can really relate to this. RATTLESNAKES: it is very positive and full of energy, it works to give you a breath between the 1st part and the 2nd part of the album wich comprises the - -harder-to-swallow- material of the album as far as the concept goes. Musically it brings me memories of childhood play in the square of my town. TIME: delicate, wonderful. I love this track is haunting in every way. It makes me think of the things that are happening now in the world and how we HAVE to change this once for all. Its perfect, that TIME is quite near to I AM NOT IN LOVE. Because is the exact emotion of loneliness and detachment that you feel, after acting in a awful way to someone. It will become a CLASIC. HEART OF GOLD: I thought that after all the discussion of how awful this track is, I would not like it. But to my surprise I think is really catchy, It is TECHNO TORI!, it sounds a little bit like SHE IS YOUR COCAINE in CHOIRGIRL in my opinion. It rocks, I like it! I DO NOT LIKE MONDAYS: There is some lullaby quality to it that makes it very delicate and fragile. It remids me when you are little and do not want to go to school because you miss you mon and dad. I think that Tori performed it because when she4s working somtimes in the studio, she sometimes all of a sudden she might miss Natashya. Veryyyyyyyyy delicate, it reminds me of the delicacy of BLACK SWAN. HAPPINESS IS A WARM GUN: is very political, and I love it. I think that describes perfectly how words are like guns and how the can kill, as Tori said. It comes to my mind a MADONNA line of TILL DEATH DO US PART: -The bruises/ they will fade away/ you hit so hard with the things you said- RAINING BLOOD: it is somewhat disturbing, her vocals made me thing of a Siren who is being killed by some sailors. she is amazing and otherwordly in this amazing track. REAL MEN: I love the irony of the track in lines like : -don4t called me a faggot unless you are a friend-, and things like that. I agree with Tori, the character is a tranvestite. it sums up very well the album concept, so I think that it was a good decision to put it as the last track. Well that is all,I know that I AM a pain in the ass, and I am always bugging you all guys with my stupid questions and commentaries ALL the TIME ;). but I just wanted to express myself. And to said that the album comes in a moment when I need Toris voice to canalize my own deamonds. If you want to drop me a line, I would bee more than glad to read it!!!!!! :) Meanwhile I will be chanting ...Strange litle boy /where are you going?/Strange little boy/where are you going ?.... Good luck and tons of faery dust Daniel ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 30 Sep 2001 22:46:34 -0400 From: "Wendi Smith" Subject: meet and greets So, this is my second Tori show and I have never been to a meet and greet before. I got one of them, and they're not really programs, it's actually a calendar for 2002...anyways, there are around 6 shirts, one long sleeve for like $45, and the rest for $30 unless you want an XXL I think is $35. They have keychain, necklaces, and a beanie, and a hooded sweatshirt...I'm pretty sure that's about right. The beanie is between $10 and $20, and the sweatshirt is $50 I think. ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 01 Oct 2001 20:36:16 -0400 From: Michael Curry Subject: Re: Merchandise at shows At 05:32 PM 10/1/01 -0400, Ange816@aol.com wrote: > >Someone was asking about the merchandise, but I can't remember who >it was so here you go...It was strange because when I went to the >first concert (West Palm) I didn't see any programs, but the first >thing I saw at the second show, was the programs, and those were $20. >I got one of them, and they're not really programs, it's actually a >calendar for 2002...anyways, there are around 6 shirts, one long >sleeve for like $45, and the rest for $30 unless you want an XXL I >think is $35. Thirty dollars for a t-shirt... gah. I think I may well be passing this time around, unless there's one that I find especially worthwhile. I realize that Tori is a big draw, and deserves to make some money off of her hard work, but that price is a ripoff.
