I've just been too busy to focus on listening to it. I listened to ot about 3 times each way while flying from Seattle to NY several weeks ago. P.S. - I heard a bizarre rumour that Tori was stuck in the Seattle area before she could get to NYC. Can anyone confirm this or is it BS. Dave did seem to make some veiled reference but she could have been stuck in any town. By the way, she plays in Seattle on 11/09 and the NYC incident was on 09/11. Anyone believe in numerology? Both New York City and Washington DC have 11 letters. Ever sience Little Earthquakes, one of the best and most underrated albums ever. But ever sienc under the pink her work as consistently gone to ground, with the one exception of to "venus and back". I am really glad the Denver presale was postponed until after the albums release bucause for the first time in 7 concerts I don't think I will be going. She has lost her way. The songs are genaric and the ones that are not aren't even songs. She used to make semi political music but she has gotten to political and has forgotten her music. I think it has just become a forum for her to voice her views. It is a realy pity. I shall still listen to Little Earthquakes, Under the pink, To venus and back and some times FTQGH, but I cannot stomach this new album. It is just trash and that is where I shall put it. To Mr. Former EWF... good riddens. The term art, is a form of inspiration. An artist is a breathing living thing and person. People change. People's art changes. A "fan" respects and admires someone for who they are and the work they produce, not a certain time period of their career or piece of their puzzle. MAYBE THERE ARE PIECES OF HER YOU'VE NEVER SEEN. mr. former EWF, you picked the wrong forum for those views, go shove em. Personally, SLG is not as of now my fav Tori work, but there are some incredible moments on this CD. This is not tori's music or tori's word, this is tori's voice telling other people's stories, and singing their songs. Respect it for what it is. I love the new album. Too bad you have lost interest in Tori, because LE is not the only thing she is about. I personally think BFP was the best thing she ever did, but I admire her for this current album. Most people would not be able to sell many copies of an all remake album (Guns N Roses the Spaghetti Incident ring a bell?) Fortunately some lucky EWF in your area may be able to get a ticket since you wont be going. Very well put. I was in the process of writing a similar reply to the list, when this one came in, so I'm not going to completely reiterate. But seriously, it's not necessary nor appropriate to go and completely rail on somebody simply because they don't like SLG. Personally, I don't care for it much myself. I heard a few of the tracks that were scattered around on the internet, and wasn't impressed at all. I bought the album thinking that perhaps when complete, it'd be better. My first impression of SLG was this. "It's not worth the plastic it was packaged in." I found the album to be way too slow in my taste. There's not a lot of tracks on it that can be really grooved too, like on her other albums. I personally have seen an unfortunate trend in Tori's music, in that her albums have, to me, gotten progressively stranger. Choirgirl is my personal favorite, but after that... Venus's studio disc was very different, odd, and I don't care for it as much as the other albums. SLG in my opinon is even farther out there. After a few listens through the album, a lot of it IS growing on me. I still don't feel that it's nearly her best work, or that it'll have the staying power that her other albums have, but I still intend to support Tori as best I can, and will be one of the first in line for her next album, whenever she releases it. - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Thursday, September 20, 2001 5:55 PM Subject: Re: What happened!!! > > Hey everyone who is bashing the former EWF with his own opinion- > chill out. just as you have opinions about things you may not like, this > person has an opinion on something he doesn't like. While most people are flying their colors of support in the traditional loop presentation or American flag pin on their lapel or shirt, Our girl wore hers where people would notice - hanging from her right wrist - the side that faces the camera. Knowing that's one of the two places where the camera focus's - her face and hands playing the Bosey. I got choked up for a sec. She played "Time" again - beautifully. (Less emotional than on Letterman.) Reg & Kelly chatted with her about the new album, the *girls* pics & her tour. Thinking why she keeps playing "Time" when there are 11 other tracks. In light of the tragedy the following tracks are out: 97 Bonnie & Clyde, I Don't Like Mondays, Raining Blood & Happiness is a Warm Gun. New Age, Rattlesnakes & Heart of Gold are not enough like the album track when played by solo piano. Real Men can be alienating in its sarcasm. I'm not in Love too dour, pessimistic. Strange Little Girl & Enjoy the Silence could be taken wrong - a bit off kilter for the general American public. That leaves Time. Time seems the most universal of the 12. It's Hopeful.
