Hi ya SatelliteNo2 & EWF ~ Every time and I DO mean every single time I've seen Tori live she's faced to our right. (Left looking out from the stage.) If your question has to do with concert seats there are plus's and minus's to both left and right hand seating though sitting center is still, in my opinion, the best. If you are sitting on the left facing the stage you do get Tori's back, and miss seeing her expressions, BUT you also get to see her hands work. (BRING BINOCULARS, I CAN'T STRESS THIS ENOUGH. It's a treat watching her hands do the magic.) Likewise if you are on the right you miss her hands work but you get to see myriad of expressions she will convey. These are small venues, if she does as I have witnessed in the past, she will lock eyes and communicate with each person who will meet her gaze. (Small venue+binoculars=catch the nuance to remember.) Also important to remember is that she's likely playing more than the Bosey this tour. (If London is any indication and I think it is.) So, with all that said, no matter where you are sitting you will get to see what the other side does as she swings around to play more keys. Remember your binoculars EWF, even if they are the cheapy 5 buck ones. You won't be sorry. Mine have been to every Tori concert - (+ plenty non-Tori shows) - even when I've been rows away from stage. That's my learned advice Toodles ~ MysT *Oh, answer is she faces RIGHT as you look at a seating chart, stage top. **Everyone on the East coast staying out of the water? EQS contacted folks and gave them the option of getting the misprinted copies, or waiting another week for the corrected version. I opted for the misprint. Not only is it many more pages out of order than just the one that they told people about, but I am *so* disappointed (I can't even tell you just how much) that two of the songs I most wanted lyrics to -- "'Til the Chicken" and "Samurai" -- aren't included at all. There seem to be a few other errors in the book, too. Bummer. (Like the lyrics for Hungarian Wedding Song seemingly containing what looks like a comment to the editor [probably written by Tori] about whether or not to include the "froperty" part, but that they included as the last line of the lyric.) Grrrrr. Oh, well, better than nothing, I guess. But after all this time, I don't really think it's all that unrealistic of me to have expected a less shoddy job. What are the > restrictions that you endure? Recording concerts is rarely allowed, usually by both the artist and the venue. There are a large number of bands who do allow taping, including Dave Matthews Band, Pearl Jam (although with some significant limitations), Cowboy Junkies, and others. For those artists who don't allow taping, you have to be sneaky about it. How difficult this is depends on how tight security is. I've taped at shows where "hiding" my gear consisted of putting it in my backpack. But I've also taped at shows where I had to get my gear in past metal detectors and security doing pat-downs. How to tape is discussed on mailing lists like Tori-boot and DigiTori. The Tori-boot list is a general mailing list for anyone who's interested in anything Tori-bootleg-related, including trading and so on. The DigiTori list is a mailing list for Tori tapers only (and, although the title says that it's digital, analog tapers are allowed). You can learn more about these lists at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/tori-boot/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DigiTori/ HTH. /nm ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 05 Sep 2001 13:27:52 -0400 From: nadyne@mindspring.com Subject: Re: union chapel concert becka wrote: > well folks.. i just got the entire union chapel concert from > alt.binaries.tori-amos > and wow.. let me just say wow.. i have SO missed tori and just the > piano.. the concert was absollutely amazing.. and it's not a > terrible sounding boot.. i'm most likely gonna be able to put this > to CDR.. for later trading etc.. or now.. which ever.. please mail > me privately.. Please don't trade a copy of this show made from MP3s. MP3s are very lossy. Even though it sounds good as the MP3s (I've downloaded them too, they're nice!), it will sound even better from the original DAT. The TOMB has a copy of the show on the way, and this show will be in a lot of folks' hands in the very near future. Since not everyone has a high-speed Internet connection, or a CD burner, I may run a CD tree of this show to spread it to all the folks who couldn't get it otherwise. If folks are interested in a tree, please email me to show your interest. If I get enough, I'll do it. For more information on the TOMB, please check out: http://tomb.dreamhost.com/ In short, the TOMB (Tori Online Music Bank) is a repository of high-quality complete Tori shows. They are stored in Shorten format (SHN), which is a completely lossless compression algorithm. SHN differs from MP3 in that MP3 is -not- lossless. There are several great shows already available on the TOMB, including the long-awaited Indianapolis 1998. Indy 98 has a -fabulous- setlist that I think many Toriphiles will be interested in. For those folks who are interested in sharing MP3s, I highly recommend any client that uses the Gnutella network. Personally, I use Limewire . I don't yet know how sophisticated its search engine is (does it include the directory name in the search?), but it's a relatively good client that provides much of the same functionality as Napster. If you were a long-time Napster user, the interface on Limewire may take some getting used to. Limewire, and any Gnutella client, has the advantage that you can make -any- sort of file available, not just MP3s. You can learn more about Limewire at: http://www.limewire.com/ It's available for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Solaris.
