The owners of the place hold special shows from time to time, which usually just end up being done a bunch of guys doing their thang onstage, nothing too memorable or anything. It's usually flawed: overly sexual, overly corny, just TOO over-the-top. But last saturday was a shocker: the central show was danced and choreographed to Tori's CARNIVAL! It began with a guy covered with black satin sheets and his face painted, singing the words to the song, moving his hands and looking at "the sky". Two other guys joined him once the music got harder (halfway thru the track) and the three started to do all sorts of weird things (of a sexually-provocative sort) and basically dance widly to the beat, they even had wings (which one could argue were angel or devil wings). I'm not one to describe things very accurately so any other details escape me, but the one thing I can tell you is that the show was a total sucess and everybody roared when it ended! Just one word... weird. On and by the way, the person who picked the song happens to be a good friend of mine. He hasn't heard much of her music but he asked me to lend him the albums. Will do! Take care, Giovanni - ---------- "With you I'm not a little girl/with you I'm not a man/when all the hurt inside of me comes out, you understand/You see that I'm ferocious, you see that I am weak/you see that I am silly/and pretentious/and a freak/but I don't feel to strange for you/don't know exactly what you do/I think when love is pure you try to understand the reasons why/And I prefer this mistery/it cancels out my misery/and gives me hope that there could be... a person that loves me". - - Madonna "Please forgive me for my distance... the pain is evident in my existence" - - Fiona Apple ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 20 Jun 2001 10:08:20 -0400 From: stomachless bottom Subject: Re: Connecticut Tori Party? when we last left our heroes, Sara exclaimed: >Anyone in the CT area that would like to give the fundraiser a whirl? this year's ectofest, which is held in danbury, ct, is going to be a rainn benefit. see the attached announcement which just went out last night: >Date: Tue, 19 Jun 2001 23:35:21 -0400 >To: ecto@smoe.org >From: meredith >Subject: Announcing ectofest 2001! > >Hi, > >Now that EctoFestWest has taken its glorious place in the history books, >it's time to look toward ectofest east. > >We've made it a week earlier this year, so everyone who has run up against >Labor Day weekend conflicts in the past can have a better shot at making it. > >ectofest 2001 will take place on Saturday, August 25 at Kenosia Lake Park >in Danbury, Connecticut. Great cause and all.. But >geez.. That's it for 100 dollars? the $100 is for folks who want to help sponsor the festival. there will be regular admission tickets available later as well. last year, it was $20 for seven bands. i don't know what the regular ticket price will be this year, but i imagine it'll be about the same cost. as for unknown artists, well, all four of the confirmed artists have samples on mp3.com or their websites, so check 'em out before hand if you want: edie carey http://www.ediecarey.com/ http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/73/edie_carey.html mila drumke http://www.littlepro.com/ http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/19/mila_drumke_band.html trina hamlin http://www.trinahamlin.com/ http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/17/trina_hamlin.html rachael sage http://www.rachaelsage.com/ http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/28/rachael_sage.html i suspect toriphiles will be most interested in checking out rachael, whose music is piano-oriented, but all four are quite good, imho. so there. ;) as a little background, ectofest was started two years ago as an excuse to get happy rhodes (another wonderful artist and the locus of the ecto mailing list) to play out some more. the first two years, it was a benefit for the danbury women's shelter and the danbury interfaith aids ministry. this year, the organizers decided the beneficary would be rainn. so, it's not an *overtly* toriphilic event, but it has a history and a good cause. if anyone has any questions about ectofest, feel free to ask me or e-mail meredith tarr, one of the organizers, at meth@smoe.org. woj ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V6 #102 *************************************
