That's an interesting question. I don't think anyone could figure that out just from listening. I think one would need to have noticed Tori keying the Kurzweil at the appropriate moment as she could be seen keying the backing tracks for Talula on the DDI Tour (in that instance with a foot switch), or otherwise have had a conversation with someone on the crew about it and asked them. I don't believe any of the "Girl shows" were booted on video, so I'm going to give you my best guess, which is that Tori probably keyed it herself to start it by hitting a certain key on the Kurzweil, as she would do to start the repeating background vocal part on iieee. I'd say the reason she started the backing tracks for Talula on the DDI tour with a foot switch is that since she didn't have a synthesizer nor any other keyboard-based MIDI device with her on that tour, and being the only thing like that which they needed to start off, it made the most sense to simple have her press a switch with her foot when the time came for the backing tracks. This is merely informed conjecture of course, and I'm sure if this question is an important one to anybody, that Mark would answer it if put to him on the coming tour. Be seeing you, Richard Handal, H.G. ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V6 #85 ************************************
