I was in Italy for spring break and I think we were in Rome or either Florence, but I swear I saw this woman that looked exactly like Tori walking down the street! Except her hair was red and maybe between chin and shoulder-length. She even had her lips. It was strange. I had to look again but she had already passed me. There was no one else with her though. But I swear she looked exactly like her. Does anyone know is Tori cut her hair? Hehe. :D *~Adjoa ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Apr 2001 08:10:07 EDT From: ToriphileMaria@aol.com Subject: Rabbit Um, I always thought that Tori had said Rabbit was one of her nicknames her family called her... I remember on storytellers when she is talking about iieee, she is quoting the little indian boy talking to her and he calls her "rabbit". Is this something just really obvious that everyone already knows which is why nooone has mentioned it, or have I been smoking too much crack again? ~~MaRia Wanna Trade? Check out my site! I would love to know what she looks like during this song. I know that she performed it on the Pay Per View special back in '99, but, alas, I was not such a big fan of hers then and really had no interest in ordering it. Was it ever released on video or is it available anywhere on video? I listen to the PPV version of Riot Poof so much and I love the ending when she repeats "it will all find it's way in time" over and over again. Also, the same for Professional Widow, one of my all-time favorites! I blast the PPV version almost everyday. I love it! And I would love to see what she actually looks like while singing these two songs from this concert. ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 27 Apr 2001 03:04:29 EDT From: JNe9027355@aol.com Subject: Re: Re: The Pretty Good Years: A Tribute to Tori Amos In a message dated 4/20/2001 10:33:32 PM Pacific Daylight Time, owner-precious-things-digest@smoe.org writes: > Subject: Re: The Pretty Good Years: A Tribute to Tori Amos > > Hey Tori's fan, > > I'm new to the mailing list, but I been a Tori fan since 1992, but I did not > sale my soul to her until 1994. Peace, Love and > Lollipops. heh, took u forever to obtain? i browsed amazon once looking for a tori compilation album, or greatest hits, when i got interested in her and Tribute popped up first--which was also the lowest priced and the most matching to a compilation that i could get! only $7! i got the Tribute to kate bush too. Jemma has a good voice, and does an interesting take on their songs. The article, about pornography in America, made Amos "put an ear to the ground and hear what people are saying," she says. "The one question that I had to really pull back was: What is it in us, in women, that is OK to be defecated on?"" what do you think or tori's assessment of porn? the article itself specifies the element of violence in porn, and how that it the current trend. i guess im wondering if that brand of porn constitutes scrutinizing ALL porn, and wondering if tori makes any distinctions along that line in her comment. what is your assessment of the article? of porn? it will be interesting to see how this has influenced the new CD. - -- ~ kelley FINNatic #69 "and your earth moves beneath your own dream landscape ... on borderland we run, we run and dont look back." ~ U2, a sort of homecoming _____________________ The Saferoom Project http://www.saferoom.org/ http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/saferoom ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 26 Apr 2001 07:39:20 -0700 (PDT) From: Marla Tiara Subject: Question for you all... (Note: I'm not subscribed to P-T but I read the archives regularly and woj said this would work...we shall see...) On the dent forumz there has been some debate about a song called "Father Boy" that one person has insisted is Tori. (An "early" song about her friendship with a priest.) Although the original source HAS been tracked down - to a CD released in 1995 (*cough* post Under the Pink) called "Are We Not Men? We are Demo!" by a now-defunct record label - and the song on that disc was attributed to 'Agatha Parker Sterling,' there are those that insist now that Tori simply released this song under a different name, and others who say "We still don't have an answer." Now while I am pretty darn sure that the song isn't Tori, I was wondering if one of the people on this list who has done extensive research into Tori's past or who has talked to Tori herself about her past forays could somehow specifically verify that: A) Tori never recorded a song called "Father Boy" (Note: A quick peek at the Library of Congress records online and some websites listing older songs by Tori finds no listing of a song with this name, and the song "Amanda's Boy" does not have the same lyrics if the lyrics on one Russian website are accurate.) B) Tori never used the name Agatha Parker Sterling (Man, if she hated Myra Ellen... ;) ) It seems so obvious to me that this song isn't Tori, and I shouldn't even need to do this, but I'd love to have some solid info so this argument can be put to rest. (The person who "found" this song admits himself that the song is from this demo, is attributed to this person, yet insists that Tori was simply undercover.) To me it's pretty obvious it's not Tori, sound-wise. And yes, I am nuts and can't let this go. :) marla tiara, a lurker extraordinaire ===== ~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~* Famous people wearing my tiara: http://www.marlatiara.com (*updated 01/23/01 - Emm Gryner!) In a rare fit of inactivity I happened to check the Dent forum recently and saw this, DLed the song, heard with great certainty that it was not Tori (the recording technology doesn't even sound right for the period even if one knew nothing of the singer's voices in question); I did a search on Google.com and came up with the same result of it being someone else's demo that I saw later in the forum thread had been determined already, and said nothing to anyone about this. You are correct, Marla. No way that's Tori from the era claimed. Again, if nothing else the recording is too good. Nice talking to you, Marla. :-) Be seeing you, Richard Handal, H.G. ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V6 #75 ************************************
