The story is (vaguely) that there was this woman in love with this man (the love of her life), and he left her for someone else. For some reason or another (like i said, very vague!), she was turned into a volcano after her death. The story is that she turned the man she loved into a plant and placed him at the very top, or mouth, of the volcano (of herself), and placed the girl he left her for at the bottom of the volcano (at her feet) so they could never be together again. A very jealous and vengeful god, but she DID lose the love of her life. I looked for it and couldn't find it anywhere! If anyone has it, where did you get and how is the book? If I can't find the book, I'll order it from EQS. But I was forced to do this... You're on your knees, and you make a choice." even though it may not be about relationships or love, it fits into the record because she felt it represented this feeling she was trying to portray. my 2 cents eric _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Feb 2001 18:17:21 -0000 From: "Eric Tierney" Subject: Merman lyrics I had always thought that the lyric was "you're my little ghost." Marianne serves as a sort of "familiar spirit" to guide Tori along on her journey. After going into the Dark Side of herself on the first chapter of the album (tracks 1-5), Marianne sets her off on the path to healing. "Tuna rubber a little blubber in my igloo" makes you think of hibernation and memories from the distant past. "And I knew you, pigtails and all," begins the reflection on Marianne. Peraps Tori's recollection was brought on by her own dark thoughts. "And they said Marianne killed herself, and I said not a chance." But she has to survive - "Get those bags and hold down." Anyway, I won't ramble on. Marianne leads into the "heart" of the record. j'ason ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Feb 2001 18:40:48 EST From: UnderH20thing@aol.com Subject: Re: Merman lyrics.....it's all here!~ ummm. i'm almost positive that it is "little goat" there was something on it in the forum a long time ago. well the song is about Mark, and and she often talks about how her and mark have pet names for each other. well. somewhere she said that either she calls mark little goat or her calls her that. i know that this sounds like it has no validity, but the forum had a thread about this a long time ago. try listening to it on as many versions as you can see if you can hear it. take care toriphiles... glitter girl ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 21 Feb 2001 04:31:24 EST From: Mysterilady2001@cs.com Subject: eBay - intermission ~ Happy Hi Ya's EWF ~ Well, well... lookie what happened - the second seller closed his Baltimore auction early. He stated he closed it because he sold it off eBay but somehow I don't think that was the case. Whether my emailing each and every one of his bidders alerting them to the Baltimore seller problems we were seeing on eBay had any impact I just can't say - but as of today - 2/21/2001 - there are no Baltimore's on eBay. The creep, or creeps, were shysters, I just know it. Hopefully he/they won't come back so when you next see a Balt on eBay it will be genuine with no problems associated. That's our hope. eBay has been very calm of late - enough so that I got Blender - (fairly rare CD-ROM that includes interviews with Tori as well as music & a limited discography) - for a dollar & a pair of Steve Madden designed for Tori RAINN platforms for 20.00. Not that I want the competition, but if you want Tori goodies, this seems to be a good time to bid. Thanks to Everyone who wrote to eBay Toodles ~ MysT *I always thought Tori's phrase about the *too many stars and not enough sky* had to do with the competition the two waitresses had with each other. Tori speaks of the other waitress in disdain - basically accusing her of being two-faced. *Boys all think she is living kindness* - then Tori says - *Ask a fellow waitress, ask a fellow waitress* - as in, ask ME about her, I know the truth. Basically I think its a *This town ain't big enough for both of us* John Wayne/showdown at the OK Corral remark. **And on Marianne ~ It's clear as crystal to me that Tori, or rather Myra Ellen, looked up to her. Tori liked her, she was kind & smart and had insight. Seems Marianne may have been a popular girl, maybe even one of those Golden Girls we went to school with. You know the kind who could seemingly do no wrong. She always dressed fab, said the right things, hung with the *cool* crowd & was basically everything we wanted to be but weren't. Truth is, those girls are human too. They had problems & pressures like everyone. Sometimes smart girls died an early death from doing something really stupid. I think Tori was saying that Marianne wasn't the big legend she was becoming after her death but a real person - pigtails & all. *** ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V6 #33 ************************************
