You can find this song in the following places: * BT's album "IMA" * BT's two UK singles for the song, both of which have 4-5 remixes of the song * the "Party of Five" soundtrack I think there's another BT album on there (a Euro-only release?), but my memory sucks. :) /nm ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Feb 2001 13:10:23 -0500 From: Liquid Pie Subject: Re: precious-things-digest V6 #26 on 2/12/01 2:50 AM, JNe9027355@aol.com at JNe9027355@aol.com wrote: > hyper CDs=the imports/maxi-singles, right? > It's just a single that has multimedia on it, such as videos. The ones Tori released are the 1000 Oceans and Concertina singles which have videos on them, accesible only by the web at the Atlantic site. I think some other Atlantic artists have had these, but it doesn't have to do with it being an import or anything, just that it has multimedia on it. - -- Liquid Pie - -- The Haven of Pie: http://members.tripod.com/liquidpie2/index.html ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Feb 2001 10:19:17 +0800 From: "cherry bliss22" Subject: Re: Was blue skies w/BT ever a b-side? well actually it was released as a single from BT, which says featuring Tori Amos on the front in words. it has a blue cover with a black and white(kind of) photo of BT on the front looking downwards and its in a clear plastic jewel case(the thin variety). i think it has about 5 remixes of the song on it....one of the mixes(which i cannot remember the name of without looking at the cd) has some extra lines in it that tori sings...... mmmm.....i'm thinking back and i think i bought it in about '95 or '96.......so it definitely was released as a single.....then again i'm from Australia so maybe it was only released as a single in some countries and not others......i've been told it is actually classed as almost a rarity or something...is that true? >From: JNe9027355@aol.com >To: precious-things@smoe.org >Subject: Was blue skies w/BT ever a b-side? >Date: Mon, 12 Feb 2001 02:53:52 EST > > >I thought it was only featured on BT's album "IMA" >If it;s on a single, which is it? >thanks >-AJ - ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Feb 2001 12:54:55 -0500 From: Liquid Pie Subject: Re: Was blue skies w/BT ever a b-side? on 2/12/01 2:53 AM, JNe9027355@aol.com at JNe9027355@aol.com wrote: > > I thought it was only featured on BT's album "IMA" > If it;s on a single, which is it? > thanks > -AJ > There's two singles, I have one of them and for the life of me could not tell you which one right now. :-) I have one with the radio version and 4 remixes. I don't think The Wrong Band has any more to do with dogs or dog trainers than Horses has to do with Horses. I loved the interview, I think it was on the Mick St. Michaels CD, where Tori was talking on the phone to some journalist right when Pele was coming out, and the song Horses came up and the journalist asked Tori, "Do you ride?" She had to repeat it before Tori was able to determine that she was asking her if she rode *actual* *horses*. Bemusedly, she replied, "Well, I've been thrown a few times." :-) I feel better now. Just my opinion, of course. Be seeing you, Richard Handal, H.G. First on the US version of the IMA album, then on the two UK singles - - Part One featuring Paul Van Dyk & Robbers of Antiquity mixes and Part Two featuring Deep Dish & Rabbit In the Moon mixes. Blue Skies was left off the UK version of IMA but appeared on his later UK CD ESCM. The last place you can hear Blue Skies (from what I know) is on the Party Of Five soundtrack. Dear Tori Lovers, Let me share. you know what one of my favorite lines is? "you sign prince of darkness, try squire of dimness" (she's your cocaine) you guys talking about the words made me grab all my lyrics and read, read, read.. how about, "i think the good book is missing some pages"? (Icicle- there are LOTS of great lines from icicle.. I could go on and on..) and another, "I got my rape hat on honey but I always could accessorize" (Talula) or "got an angry snatch, girls you know what I mean" (Springtime of his Voodoo) Does anyone know the facts behind this line? from 'Hotel', "King Solomon's Mines, exit 75, I'm stil alive", etc... I've looked up King Solomon's mines and didn't find much, especially about exit 75. Another interpretation: from Muhammed my Friend, "and if I lose my cracker jacks at the tidal wave I've got a place in the Pope's rubber robe" WHAT?????? And, WHO IS ANGIE DICKINSON? I always hear references about her, but have no idea who she is or what she's done. Myst, LOL, yes, it was very Linda Richmond. "Let's Twalk" (while walking our dwogs over cwoffee, of cwourse!) Not 'my' sister, whom I like very much, but dominantly the women's movement. Women have this facade of fighting for the same cause, but can be so cruel, so slimey at the same time. I trust my male friends a lot more than my female friends. Men just want to get along with you. They won't nag about the fact things are going so well for me.They're happy about it. Whereas women will try and give me a complex of guilt. Make me uncertain, make me doubt myself. So that I don't dare go on stage, because I'd be afraid to have no success. Then they'd be happy, because then we're all rats in the same cage again." - -Tori Amos - -Oor, May 21, 1994 - -micah >> ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Feb 2001 02:33:55 EST From: ToriphileMaria@aol.com Subject: more lyric deciphering I was listening to a live version of Caught a Lite Sneeze..... which is totally possessing me right now, and Im trying to figure out exactly what she means in "need a big loan from a girl zone" maybe that she needs strength from her female friends to give her comfort/strength to deal with her loss (presumably of her break-up with Eric)? And, what about: and you still got that Belle dragging your foots I'm hiding it well Sister Ernestine but I still got that Belle dragging my foots-- I wonder if this is just too personal and we will never figure it out. As for "your just an empty cage girl if you kill the bird" I agree with almost all of the interpreations on here; I belive in its double meaning- first of killing her soul or spirit-- then she'd be an empty body; but also the literaly meaning-- if she stops her singing..... she's just an empty cage. This ties in well with SATY and how Tori has said she had given up playing the piano/signing for awhile after YKTR untill she got inspired/motivated to start writting the music for Little Earthquakes. So, this song maybe about her spiritual suffering, but also about her pain and guilt in dealing with the failure of YKTR and how she sold out herself for the a metal band. Just my two cents. =) ~~MaRia Wanna Trade? Check out my site! " ~ Tori Amos ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 13 Feb 2001 03:51:07 EST From: Mysterilady2001@cs.com Subject: Changes ~ Hi ya'all EWF ~ Personally I'm hella excited to see what changes the new babe brings to Tori's music. To me her career is much like the map from Choirgirl - the scenery changes, pitfalls happen & there are new and exciting things to see and places to visit and *be* on the way. In listening to YKTR we hear the upstart Tori - very sure she wants to be a supastarrr - just not sure just what kind yet. The "Rock Chick" mentality didn't fit Tori but she was told what to do and say and she dutifully obeyed. The thirst had been building for years through all the gay bars and small clubs she's Wow'd. She was in the Big Leagues now - She had a real deal recording contract and was making a real deal album. Things were beginning to happen. Sadly YKTR bombed. However, as a woman Tori's age I'm sure it did indeed knock her on her butt for a while but she got up and began anew. She wrote. Thankfully she still had friends in high places. With a new home town & the right support she again Wow'd & Little Earthquakes was born. I have no doubt the songs on LE were from time eternal for Tori. They were what she really wanted to say when she was doing the YKTR gig. Eric & her were an item then and he became a big influence in the next project - Under The Pink. Tori was established legit and feeling her roots. Things went pretty smooth. Then bump. Eric signed off. Anger & Pain wrote Boys For Pele. I remember reading the critics thoughts on Boys. They all mentioned the angry woman take on the album but few mentioned the cleansing such realness evokes. And worse yet, does anyone remember any critic praising Boys for bringing the hard freaking truth of pain out in the open. Love gone wrong hurts like f***in' hell and its ok to say so. Alannis continued the thread with "You Outta Know". I don't know at what point Mark and Tori became an item - its none of my biz - but I think its safe to say he's all over Choirgirl. Tori mellowed but kept the edge. It was clear she was happier now, in spite of the miscarriage that stalled, swayed, spiked & stunned her. It was a full year before I could listen to Playboy Mommy without tears streaming down my face. By Venus she had things pretty much collected, sorted and examined. Marriage suited her, - - life suited her. No major angst to report. Creatively I love Venus. Datura rocks my world. As does Juarez. No Angel came. Issues with God's compassionate omnipresence - or lack thereof - in this case. Its ok to be f***in' mad at God. The Venus non-still-orbiting/non-live cd ends with probably the least-like Tori song - 1,000 Oceans. Its calm & serene. Reminds me of Ireland - a place she loves dearly. Influence from a trip abroad. What changes in the scenery will the new album bring - No idea. But isn't it exciting? The new babe will likely be the catalyst. Change is inevitable. That's My Take On It All Toodles ~ MysT *When this album happens it'll be Tori's 7th major release. 7's a lucky number :-) *** ------------------------------ End of precious-things-digest V6 #28 ************************************
