Happy? Actually, no. I'm proud to admit I *do* know a lot about the music and things that have happened pertaining to it and to "her". I would never deny that. I only denied being an insaniac collector--because I'm not. I've been here in Online Toriville for more than seven years. I've learned a lot from being on the lists and from spending a lot of time on the last three tours. To me learning comes naturally, as I tend to keep my eyes and ears open. Being in the right place and keeping one's eyes and ears open can quickly add up to a lot of knowledge if one connects the dots between what one has seen. Words truer than this famous Yogi Berra quote were never spoken: You can observe a lot by watching. Now, does any of this translate into my being, as some have assumed, interested in nothing but Tori Amos and living in some sort of Tori "shrine"? I don't have a single Tori poster or photo up or visible anywhere. The 1994 Cornflake Girl (unofficial) CD box set is visible (I only bought it for the book, and found later I could have gotten it separately), but its visibility is only on par with my CD boxed set of Frank Sinatra, "The Voice: The Columbia Years." I have more than a hundred Sinatra records, most either CDs or audiophile pressings of LPs. You'd be as likely to come across Ukrainian folk music, Carla Bley, classical music of India or Polynesian choral polyphony as anything else around here. Just as Tori got quickly defensive when she was on The Daily Show last year when Jon Stewart instantly made a crack about her fans in the audience "hyperventilating," I know some people have the wrong idea, and if I'm given a good opportunity to bat down a few assumptions then I may just take it. That's where this is coming from. I've been burned too many times already. I know 98% of folks don't give it a second thought, but some people believe all sorts of weird rumors, and some appear even to live to make assumptions. I've learned over the years how unreliable such things are--which brings me back to the same Yogi Berra quote. ;-) I've been preaching this for years, MysT. You just happen to have missed it until you subbed here. :-) Be seeing you, Richard Handal, H.G. It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it. --Aristotle ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 19 Dec 2000 06:04:56 EST From: JNe9027355@aol.com Subject: need lyrics to Dream On! did all the lookin i could for them...someone please kindly sumbit if u have them! - -AJ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 19 Dec 2000 14:10:51 -0000 From: "Wendi" Subject: Re: precious-things-digest V5 #272 MAAG is Me and a Gun. I have a question. My fiance works at NRM and he was looking through their catalog of stuff that they can order and he came across a listing of To Venus and Back that was priced at $141.97. It had no description listed, but the UPC is 76648551782. I have an idea of what this may be but I just wanted to make sure I was right before I went and ordered it. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! Wendi *From God's saviours to gum drops got me running girl as fast as I can. Kevin Aucoin made over a bunch of stars for a VH1 special, "Rockstar Makeovers", airing on VH1 tonight. It repeats on Christmas Eve afternoon. (Check your local listings to see when it airs in your area.) They showed Kevin making Tori up as Mary, Queen of Scots. Cool. She looked fabulous, as she always does. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! That is, most likely, the laser-etched wooden box for TVaB. It's not an official release, but was released by UFO, the same company who has released other Tori box sets. The top of the box has a laser-etched picture of Tori. Inside, there is a copy of the UK release of TVaB (the discs and the liner notes). It's supposed to be a limited edition, although I can't recall if there were 500 or 1000 made. If my memory serves, I've seen this box go for less than US$100 on eBay.
