I personally have three of the TVAB flats, a lithograph, and a full size poster that I got from my local music store for free. I've seen the lithographs and flats go for quite cheap on eBay (less than $10). I'm not sure how much they're worth, but that much money would not have come out of my pocket for the two items. peace christina - ----- Original Message ----- From: Lauren DePhillips To: Sent: Tuesday, August 29, 2000 3:46 PM Subject: Re: [BeyondThePale] what song makes you cry? > > There's only one song that never fails to get me everytime .. I'm not sure this is right, although I don't know if you work for or with a record company, so forgive me if I make the assumption, for the moment, that you don't. As someone who reviews music quite often, I have gotten blue-green CDRs of certain things, especially when I was asking for something long before the finished copies were available to the press. My sense is that there are a number of reasons. 1) they're cheaper, even if silver-pressed copies are not that expensive to make. 2) they have less resale value because they're not silver pressed and because they degrade, over time, more quickly than silver discs do. 3) they're easy to make. In a publicist's office, they can have a cd-writer, and someone can say "these 20 people requested this CD today, please burn a copy for each." Publicity offices, even at major record labels, seem to receive limited copies of promotional albums, even for (and sometimes especially for) big-name artists, and many more reviewers want copies than are available. My sense is that the blue-green CDRs are in no way especially limited (and there may not be any way to find out how many of any individual promo were burned).
