In the Music Section, there's a picture of Kathie Lee in a "sexy" pose and this passage of text next to her: "For a person who's supposed to be perky, I don't like superficial music," claims the seriously perky Kathie Lee Gifford. Reege's soon-to-be-ex-cohost cut her teeth covering Carole King and James Taylor and now appreciates Tori Amos and Sarah McLachlan. And then remember when somebody on this list said she saw a picture of Kathie Lee and she looked weirdly like Tori? One of you New Yorkers is going to run into her at one of the next concerts, I just know it. ;) ===== "The common cold virus is the cockroach of all illnesses-- hundreds of breeds, constantly mutating, impossible to destroy... Anyway, I just thought I would share with you guys, no use in me doing this for nothing. So here it is. Precious Things (I think it kind of set the mood better than opening with God) Little Earthquakes Sugar Talk/intro the band Cornflake Girl Bells For Here Siren Bliss band leaves Tori talks China Mr. Zebra (sort of lighten in the mood, since i know i would at least be balling my eyes out) Mother Nothern Lad (with band coming in) Caught A Lite Sneeze Cruel Waitress leaves 1st encore She's Your Cocaine Raspberry Swirl Pretty good Year 2nd encore 1000 Oceans (with band) Silent All These Years She probably wouldnt do that many songs, but a boy can dream, cant he. Anyway, sorry if this is just junk mail to you, but I think it would be cool to see what some of you guys think would make a great set list. My question about this is . . . well, my friend is a devout Christian. She's a great person, very intelligent, totally feminist. But from what I understand of things she says, you can't just pick and choose parts of the Bible and of the Christian religion that you want to follow and live by, because faith doesn't work that way. So how do you reconcile that? chocolate kisses, aimee ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 18 Jun 2000 16:30:47 EDT From: Dracovixen@aol.com Subject: Re: precious-things-digest V5 #140 In a message dated 6/18/00 1:40:40 AM Eastern Daylight Time, owner-precious-things-digest@smoe.org writes: << so for the most part I would say that women being beneath men is no longer an issue, although being a male, I could be not seeing things that some women see, and if I'm not seeing I'm sorry. Anyway, just had to throw my 2 cents in and defend myself and religion :) Terry. >> You have every right to defend yourself and your religion. I have respect for all religions, including Christianity, but research has proven that a lot of the idea that women are inferior is due to Christianity. Perhaps, not anymore for the most part (and yes, there are other religions that see women as inferior), but it is still an issue. It is an issue in the work force, it is an issue in some religions (including some sects of Christianity), and it is an issue even in the family and society. Most males do not see it, but most women feel it everyday. Tori Amos, I believe, has given some women the strength to deal with this, and overcome it.
