I was just wondering if anyone else has done "business" with him. I'm probably just over-reacting. I sent him a money order in the amount of $16 for a 2-disc bootleg over a week ago. I figured he'd probably have it by now (but who knows-it could of been lost in the mail too). I haven't heard from him though so I'm just wondering what's going on. What do you all think. Maybe he's just busy or something. I don't mean to cause any kind of trouble and I'm not the slightest bit angry. I'm more or less anxious to get the cds. Thanks a bunch, Andrew ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 15 Jun 2000 00:04:49 EST From: "Shaigirl ..." Subject: Tori Sighting! Hey!!! Found an interesting Tori sighting tidbit... while searching for some information on my favorite band, Marry Me Jane, I found myself on the official Willy Porter site. I was trying to figure out who the hell Willy Porter was, because the name sounded familar. So I checked out the All Music Guide and it said he was a guitarist for Tori Amos's For the Choirgirl Hotel (which explains why the name rang a bell). So I was browsing his official site and he has a Tori quote posted as feedback! "thou" means "you." so, "thy" would make more sense. "do not give your strength to women..." would be the modern wording. BTW, i really like that she put that in there. i always thought she was saying something about God giving strength to the nations, or something equally bizarre. i'm relieved to know that it actually fits into the meaning of the song. :P incidentally, can someone give me the book, chapter, and verse? (i'll borrow a Bible from the library and look that up, to get its context.) peace, Melanie albion@internetcds.com "i want your pearly little hand in my hair. we make a strange and furious pair." - - Belly ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 14 Jun 2000 12:55:58 PDT From: "miss world" Subject: god give thy strength >>The part of "God" that you're thinking of is "Give not >>thou strength unto women, nor thou ways which >>destroyeth kings". (KJV) This is my favorite chapter in Proverbs, but not because of that verse. A little later, Prov. 31:6-7, it has the following advice: "Give strong drink to him who is perishing, and wine to those who are bitter of heart. Let him drink and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more." I've always taken that to mean that poor folk should just get good and drunk in order to forget the misery of being poor. A way of keeping the lower classes in line, because just before these verses, it advises the king *not* to drink, because a drunk king perverts the law. But let them po'buckers get drunk; it's all the refuge they have. deadfong ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 14 Jun 2000 11:16:16 EDT From: Dracovixen@aol.com Subject: Re: precious-things-digest V5 #138 In a message dated 6/14/00 1:40:06 AM Eastern Daylight Time, owner-precious-things-digest@smoe.org writes: << 'm not sure if it's "thou" because she sounds like she's saying "thy", but doesn't thy mean my? Oh well, hope that helps. :) Robyn. >> Thy means "your". Maybe she changed it a around a little to say "Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways which destroyeth kings." I don't know what context it is within in the Bible, but here she seems to be saying to God that He doesn't seem to be backing women up in life, you know what I mean? But thou and thy are pretty interchangeable at times, and Tori often pronounces her words differently (ex: bliss rhymes with peace in "Bliss"). But after listening to the song carefully while writing this, I think she is saying thou instead of thy. But I could be wrong. - -Black Dove ICQ #54753072 AIM: IAngel_OutcastI, Dracovixen http://www.zyworld.com/Angel_Outcast "Black dove, black dove....you're not a helicopter, you're not a cop-out either..."
