It's been available here since Tuesday. Just wanted to tell you all that this version of the disc has 18 songs instead of 16 (as does the US version). - - Song #17 is called "Zap Mamma" by Iko - Iko (I guess this the Honk Kong girl that someone mentioned) - - Song #18 is called "Deslizándote (Gliding)" by the famous mexican rockers JAGUARES (the singer's name, which is also mentioned beside the name of the band, is Saul Hernández, former lead member of the legendary mexican band LOS CAIFANES) Tori's "Carnival" is delightful. I didn't understand a word of what she was saying at first, but after reading the lyric guesses sent by other people (which seem to be perfect), my listening experience was complete! It has a bit of "Suede", a lot of "Cruel", some "Bliss" and yet more NIN. Truly gorgeous. Although I WOULD like to hear a piano-only version of it (sans the effects). On other me-related news (heh heh), I managed to find a silver copy of the bootleg named "A Woman On A Mission" at a used CD shop. Very very very very impressive for Colombia, since finding a regular "Under The Pink" CD here is usually a truly difficult task. The disc is far from being new (only good minus condition I guess) but it was only $8 so I can't complain. And it's not a CD-R! :o) The disc is yummy, and even if in Jason's bootleg discography it says the quality goes from "fair to poor", it sounds just good to me. Certainly just what I would expect from a bootleg. And it has "Crucify", "China", and "Flying Dutchman" on it! What else could a mortal want? Well, buh bye! Think think think all the time. Dissect, turn inside out, examine... then think some more! It's a GOOD way to be! God, Goddess, Nature or whatever you prefer gave us a brain to use :-) I'll have to think some more about the possible Pyramid meaning. Pyramids are in fact, as you say, religious in nature. Triangles are seen as a symbol for the mind, body and spirit. And yes you are correct, It was "GOD WITH A BIG G" (P. Campbell ~ Tori Amos Collectibles; p. 8) Now lets add some more fun to the soup: Why did she put the peace/bitch quote from Waitress on the triangle pyramid from the UTP tour??? Any thoughts on that? As for Tori's gesture, she used the exact gesture once before and shocked the newspaper reporters who had come to THAT show as well. Funny isn't it how male singers have been literally exposing themselves (even getting full monty nude) onstage for eons and its not even talked about anymore. The worst that EVER happens is that occasionally he will get busted (Axl Rose and Jim Morrison come to mind) but a WOMAN just says something sexual in nature to shut up a RUDE heckler and the press make big freaking deal of it. (Why was that heckling @$$ at a Tori show anyway btw? A sincere Tori fan could have occupied his space!) Damn I can rant can't I! WooWee!!! As to why we read so much into Tori meanings: I think its as Tori intends us to do. Think. Be. Left open for interpretation, inviting brain cells and individual history to give meaning to a phrase, breathy gesture - even an entire song or album. I mean how boring would it be to be into Brittney Spears and have everything spelled out for you!? Nothing to think about, just mindless babble and a hip beat. GAG!!! Besides, aren't Tori fans some of the most open minded people you know? We are special. Drawn to her music because we DO question. So many others are like sheep. In this age of mob mentality the mantra Tori, and so many people I know say quietly or scream at the top of our lungs is: THINK FOR YOURSELF! Wouldn't you agree? "Most people would rather be sheep and have company, then stand on their own with antlers on" Tori Amos That sums it up perfectly wouldn't you say OK, I promise to be quiet for a few days. Hehe!!! Actually I graduate Thursday, May 25th so I'll be off spreading my wings :-) Toodles, *~ MysT * Mantra can also be called WATCHWORD... i.e. "Cornflake Girl" Interesting. ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 25 May 2000 16:17:39 EDT From: "Terry Ferrell" Subject: web site for books tori has read Does anyone know the web address to the site that had some of the books that Tori has read? Hi all, I was watching MTV and saw a commercial for NIN/Trent that is promoting his special show about his current tour on MTV2, and the show is entitled Starfucker's Hour (or Starfucker's Special or something to that effect). We all know how Tori and Trent Reznor are friends and how she has made mentioned to him in some of her Lyrics, so I was wondering if this Starfucker thing is a reference to Professional Widow, that is assuming he came up with the show title himself. If MTV2 titled it, thenI guess its just an odd coincidence??? What do you all think StarFucker means to Tori anyway? And it pissed Tori off. Supposedly that's like a tradition or something to make that little devil sign during that part of the song. Although I've never seen it done at any of the concerts I've been to. Of course, I never get within 10 rows of the stage, so it may be that I'm just not close enough to see anyone do it.
